The El Defensor Chieftain has reported today that MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) "will hold a panel discussion on the UFO phenomenon on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2-5 p.m., at the Socorro Public Library. The meeting is open to the public and free of charge."
The discussion will be about "current cases," and not about the famed "Socorro Incident" which the Air Force, FBI and Army Intelligence could not offer an explanation for, after a thorough investigation. Accordingly it officially remains an "authentic UFO sighting."
Dr. Donald R. Burleson, the state director for MUFON said the theme of the meeting will be about the highlights in various cases as well as to discuss what has been learned.
Socorro was chosen as a meeting place because the town is centrally located, and "the town has been very good to us," said Burleson.
