Theyre Still Out There

Theyre Still Out There
This article first caught my attention at the Rigorous Intuition discussion forum last year. It is an article from 20 September 2008 about a UFO encounter 34 years previously by a Canadian farmer. It also appears the farmer has had some sightings in the sky in more recent years. This is the last article I had saved to drafts. I wanted to put something here in case it takes me days and days to feel better, and this was convenient as it was 99 percent ready to go. The article is from the STAR PHOENIX newspaper in Saskatoon. "It was 34 years ago this month when Edwin Fuhr encountered five dome-shaped objects hovering about a half-metre above his canola field. The passage of time has done nothing to quell the 70-year-old Langenburg man's conviction that we are not alone in the universe. In fact, Fuhr believes his visitors are still keeping watch--from a distance. "They're out there, there's no question," he said in an interview. About five or six years ago, in the northeast part of the sky, four or five lights did something strange. "They followed you," Fuhr said. saying that they looked like stars but "a star doesn't move or change colors." In 1988, he moved from the farm, about 10 kilometres north of Langenburg, into town. The urban lights tend to wash out the night sky, but every so often in the northeast, the lights show up and follow along, Fuhr said. "I'm pretty sure they're the same ones (that were in the field in 1974). That's the direction they took off in '74," he said. Many UFO sightings on the Praries occur in fall, when farmers are harvesting before the frost hits. That's when reports of crop circles tend to..er crop up. Going to inspect the landing area the day following his encounter, Fuhr found five rings of depressed canola swirled in a counter-clockwise direction. More circles were found in the area later that month, according to the media and public reports from the time. Over the next while, the site was visited by the RCMP, scientists, UFO researchers from across North America and even the FBI. Sniffer dogs used by the police refused to enter the circles, according to Fuhr. "Something was there and I doubt it was a hoax. There's no indication anything had been wheeled in or out and Mr. Fuhr seemed genuinely scared," RCMP Const. Ron Morier was quoted in a Star Phoenix story of Sept. 19, 1974. On Sept 27, 1974, another newspaper article referred to the Martensville police constable and his wife witnessing a UFO over Saskatoon. It hung above the Nutana neighborhood briefly before taking off. The officer, Albert Goddue, describing it as being dome-shaped. "No one will ever convince me it was any type of conventional aircraft. It was nothing I have ever seen in the sky before," Goddue was quoted as saying. Not everyone remains a believer after a close encounter. On Sept. 19, 1963, an 11-year-old schoolboy and three friends were playing in a Saskatoon schoolyard when they saw a bright oval object hover and drop something. They claim a figure stood up three metres tall, made a moaning sound, held out his hands, and floated towards them. The 11-year-old told investigators the figure was a man dressed in clothes "like a monk," which were white like a crayon. The accounts are recorded in two books, "PASSPORT TO MAGONIA: ON UFOS, FOLKLORE, AND PARALLEL WORLDS, BY JACQUES VALLEE" and "THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO MYSTERIOUS BEINGS, BY JOHN KEEL." The children ran off and became so hysterical that he had to be hospitalized. "Sometimes I could see right through him," the 11-year-old said. Now 56, he refuses to believe it ever happened. "It was just overzealous kids with good imaginations," he said in an interview Friday, the 45th anniversary of the event. "I don't want to discuss it. The man said he went through a "tough time" in school after the supposed sighting was made public. Since then he has moved from Saskatoon and no longer associates with the other three children who were with him that day. He has been married 35 years and neither his wife nor any of his immediate family know anything of the incident, he said, asking his name be kept out of the newspaper. "It's in the past and that's where it should stay," he said. "I don't need the headache." Fuhr was 36 when he saw the saucers around 10 a.m. Initially, he noticed one metallic object in a depression on the land. He walked to within 15 feet of the object. "I saw the grass was moving and I looked up and saw this thing spinning at one hell of a speed," he said on Thursday. There was no sound, no smell, no windows to peer into, said Fuhr. whose joints ached as he walked backwards to the swather, keeping his eye on the saucer. Then he noticed four more off to the side, arranged in a "half-moon" formation. He estimates the two largest ones were 30 feet in diameter with the rest slightly smaller. They hovered about 15 minutes before taking off, one-by-one, with a gust of vapour. A few weeks after the incident, a scientist from the National Research Council (NRC) in Ottawa suggested the rings were caused by mushrooms. Allen McNamara, he of the NRC's upper atmosphere research section, also theorized the glow from the saucers may have been caused by the fungi. The crop circles were exactly the same as "fairy rings" produced by underground mushroom filaments, he was quoted as saying. When asked by reporters about the canola pressed in a circular motion, McNamara guessed it was caused by wind. Fuhr has never been provided an explanation that would convince him he was imagining things. "Imagination doesn't leave marks in the ground does it?" he said, noting the landing site was tested as recently as four years ago and is still emitting radioactive waves. For the first year, nothing would grow where the circles were and "the ground was hard, like cement." Though he no longer works the land, it remains in the family, farmed by a nephew. Fuhr has never asked him whether he's encountered anything strange." This ends the article from the Saskatoon Star Phoenix from September of last year. Hopefully this will be a LINK to the original story. So many things fascinated me about this article. The mention of crop circles and depressions in the ground was one. I am well aware that the crop circles, depressions in the ground and "fairy rings" go back quite a few years before crop circles really hit the news in the late 80s and early 90s, but it still interested me to see references to them in the article I also think it is so funny how science always has an "explanation" for events such as these no matter how many "rings" they have to run around to promulgate their hypotheses. I think the radioactivity at the site is also very intriguing. Another item of great interest to me is how some people who have had odd encounters "shut down" after awhile and insist the event never happened, like the boy from the encounter in 1963. I would just absolutely love to know if Mr. Fuhr's nephew has had any strange encounters! Perhaps the area this farm is on could be a "window" area of paranormal activity. Finally, I thought this was a very well-written article that really got my imagination going, and I hope others who might see it here enjoy it too! The second image is of Mr. Fuhr in his canola field after his original 1974 sighting. The first and third images don't have anything to do directly with the story. The third image is of the 1996 "Julia Set" crop circle formation found in the United Kingdom. Oh!-One more thing-I would love to know if Mr. Fuhr or any of the other "experiencers" have had episodes of "missing time." Peace and best to anyone stopping by!My Favorite Monsters

Five Ufo Movies You Missed In 2012

Five Ufo Movies You Missed In 2012

By Robbie Graham

The last decade has seen the theatrical release of dozens of big-budget UFO movies. The most high-profile alien-visitation-themed titles of last year included the lunkheaded "Battleship" (which sank at the box-office), "Men in Black 3" (inoffensive but forgettable), "The Watch" (offensive and forgettable), and the UFOlogically-flavoured space operas "John Carter" and "Prometheus" - both deeply flawed but admirably brimming with big ideas.

In addition to these glossy Hollywood products, a number of non-American UFO movies were released theatrically, albeit in a smattering of independent cinemas across only a handful of territories.

Here are the five UFO movies you missed in 2012:

U.F.O. UK. DIR: DOMINIC BURNS. 97 MINS.

After a powerful earthquake causes a global power-cut, alien spacecraft position themselves over cities worldwide, their agenda unknown. As panic grips the world, humanity's basest survivalist instincts kick in. Within hours, widespread looting and general criminality are rampant as every-man-for-himself prepares for what he rightly suspects is coming next - invasion.

The plot unfolds through the eyes of a group of friends in England (Nottingham, to be precise), who, like everyone else, are trying desperately to stay one step ahead of their alien aggressors. Along the way, suppressed animosities within the group bubble to the surface and we find that not everyone is who they pretend to be.

The film's young writer/director Dominic Burns confirmed to me via email that he has a strong interest in the UFO phenomenon, and his movie reflects this in its fine details and narrative exposition - no more so than in a scene featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme as a bad-ass black-ops soldier with the inside scoop on our alien visitors. His character makes casual reference to Area 51 and confirms a pre-existing knowledge in the intelligence community of ET visitation, justifying its cover-up on the grounds that "it would have caused panic and spread fears." He also warns that "the aliens can take human form."

It is in its pre-invasion scenes that "U.F.O." is at its best, attempting to paint a grittily realistic picture of how the populous might truly react to the sight of an alien armada in our skies. However, produced on a budget of just lb2.5 million, this UK alien invasion flick falls hopelessly short of its epic vision. Needless to say, with such meagre funds at his disposal, Burns would have done well to stage in his alien invasion at the peripheries of the human drama (in much the same way that M. Night Shyamalan did in "Signs"). Instead, the director clobbers us with enough badly-rendered CGI to bring down a mothership. The result is a very poor man's "Independence Day" which is further hampered by clunky direction and wooden performances from a mostly unknown cast.

"U.F.O." is a B-movie through and through, then. But, if you accept it as such going in and set your expectations low (way low), you just might find yourself enjoying it... though you won't feel good about yourself for doing so.

GRABBERSIRELAND. DIR: JON WRIGHT. 90 MINS.

The humble inhabitants of a remote Irish island are besieged by huge octopus-like creatures and their squiddish spawn after a meteorite splashes down offshore in this affectionate pastiche of classic Hollywood alien movies. But this movie comes with an 'Irish' twist: the aliens are allergic to alcohol - a fact which, when uncovered by the locals, leads to the free flow of gallons of beer and spirits, which must be consumed constantly in order to put the 'Grabbers' off their human chow.

There's nothing particularly UFOlogical in "Grabbers" - aside from what might be interpreted as vague references to the animal mutilation phenomenon in a scene where mysteriously mutilated whales wash-up onshore and in dialogue explaining that the Grabbers' modus operandi is exsanguination.

While "U.F.O." takes itself entirely seriously, "Grabbers" keeps its liquor-soaked tongue firmly in its cheek, and is all the better for it. It also does wonders with its lb3.5 million budget (which is just lb1 million more than "U.F.O." spilt over itself). There are no spaceships here, but the Grabbers themselves are impressively realized through CGI that wouldn't look out of place in a Steven Spielberg movie. The script is tight and witty, albeit formulaic, and the lead performances from Richard Coyle and Ruth Bradley as mismatched police partners are charming and heartfelt, the chemistry between them tangible. Recommended.

STORAGE 24UK. DIR: JOHANNES ROBERTS. 87 MINS.

When a military plane crashes into the streets of Greater London, its extraterrestrial cargo breaks loose and seeks refuge in a sprawling, 24 hour public storage warehouse. With the city in total lockdown, four romantically-back-stabbing 'friends' find themselves trapped inside said warehouse only to discover they're being stalked by something monstrous. As the friends' interpersonal secrets begin to spill, so too does their blood, as the fugitive alien methodically hunts its prey.

Storage 24 owes a heavy debt to a certain genre-defining Ridley Scott movie, as a towering, razor-toothed space fiend skulks its way through the ventilation shafts and claustrophobic corridors of a cold industrial environment. But this is no space opera, its many references to government conspiracy and alien cover-ups placing it firmly in UFO movie territory, and its final scenes being more reminiscent of "War of the Worlds" than "Alien".

Decently paced, ably acted, and with some reasonably successful humor and set-pieces, "Storage 24", though entirely predictable throughout, is a watchable, bargain-bin sci-fi horror that's slicker than its wafer thin lb1 million budget might suggest.

CRAWLSPACEAUSTRALIA. DIR: JUSTIN DIX. 117 MINS.

"In 1966 the Australian and US Governments established Pine Gap, a top secret research facility in the remote Australian outback. 15 hours ago all contact with the facility was lost." Thus reads the opening blurb for "Crawlspace", a low-budget Australian sci-fi horror set in the infamous Pine Gap base, which, in real-life, is a joint US-Australian defence space research installation operated by the US National Security Agency in conjunction with the CIA. It is, by all accounts, one of the most secretive government facilities on Earth. It is also alleged by some to be a testing ground for captured alien technologies.

"Crawlspace" fully embraces the Pine Gap folklore, pitting an elite black-ops assassination unit against the terrors that lurk 200 feet beneath the surface of what is referred to in the movie as "Australia's own Area 51." The black-ops unit has been sent in to kill a number of highly psychic and extremely dangerous human "test subjects" who have escaped from their cells and wrought havoc on the facility.

That's right, the Pine Gap of this movie is concerned less with satellite tracking and communications monitoring than it is with horrific "biomechanical research" involving inter-species grafting procedures that stitch-together human and alien brains to create the ultimate psychic warrior in a decades-long East-vs.-West remote viewing war. "What we do here isn't exactly sanctioned by the government," says a Doctor Mengele-like scientist. No kidding.

Crawlspace begins with bags of potential, but, within minutes, dumps those bags in one of its many cramped ventilation shafts, where they remain perennially beyond the reach of all involved in this clumsy and clich'ed production.

With its (not so) wise-cracking, heavy-heat-packing elite military unit (complete with foul-mouthed macho woman), and its extensive use of night-vision POV shots, Crawlspace wants desperately to be James Cameron's Aliens. But while Cameron's movie is an adrenalin shot to the heart, Crawlspace is akin to a heavy dose of Valium, its meandering plot and ponderous direction lulling the viewer into the land of nod - or at least to the kitchen several times for a much-needed distractive snack. The DVD extras - in which the cast gush about the "vision" of their director (Justin Dix) - are fully twice as substantial and compelling as the movie itself. Enough said.

THE ARRIVAL OF WANGITALY. DIR: ANTONIO MANETTI, MARCO MANETTI. 80 MINS.

Gaia (Francesca Cuttica), a Chinese-to-Italian interpreter in Rome is summoned for an urgent and highly sensitive assignment. So sensitive that she's kept in the dark both figuratively and literally by her government employer, represented by belligerent Secret Service agent Inspector Curti (Ennio Fantastichini).

Unable to decline a substantial cash offer for her services, Gaia reluctantly accepts her clandestine assignment, which requires her to be blindfolded for her own security. Ushered into a darkened room in an underground government bunker, Gaia is asked to sit (still blindfolded) at a table opposite the subject of her translation - a mysterious "Mr. Wang."

Inspector Curti then prompts Gaia to elicit from Mr. Wang the reason for his unexpected arrival in Rome. As Curti's interrogation methods become increasingly hostile, Gaia demands that her blindfold be removed and the lights turned up, only to find that the quietly-spoken 'Chinese man' in front of her is, in fact, an alien. And a slimly, tentacled one at that. He's shackled to a cold metal seat in a stark room under the watchful eye of an armed guard.

Gaia is horrified - first by Mr. Wang's distinctly alien visage, then, more so, at the shameful manner in which this unique and timid visitor is being treated by her government. Mr. Wang is adamant that he comes in peace on a mission of "cultural exchange," and it's not long before the liberal Gaia begins admonishing Curti for his total disregard for human rights, pleading for the parched captive to have a sip of water and to be freed from his shackles. But Curti won't budge, insisting that Mr. Wang, despite his gentle and courteous manner, is a grave threat to national security.

Things go from bad to worse for the poor Mr. Wang as he endures not only psychological but also physical torture in a prolonged effort to divulge his true agenda on Earth. At one point, Gaia even sneaks off to phone Amnesty International to inform them of the crimes unfolding beneath the Roman streets, and we want desperately for her call to be answered.

It may have been written as an allegory of Earthly foreign politics, but "The Arrival of Wang" raises interesting exopolitical questions: Would aliens have human rights? "Should they"? What would it take for non-human extraterrestrials (or any extraterrestrials, for that matter) to gain our trust? Are "all" potential alien races deceptive and invasive, as Hollywood so often assumes?

Intelligently scripted and powerfully acted, "The Arrival of Wang" has a brilliant premise, and one that directors the Manetti brothers (Antonio and Marco) deliver on until a most unwelcome last-minute twist that, rather than daring to subvert our inherent fear of 'the Other', cynically plays to it, imparting to the viewer a message that's just plain abhorrent. Shame. A Hollywood remake is already in the works.

Hunt For Alien Spacecraft Begins Nasa Scientist Gets Funding

Hunt For Alien Spacecraft Begins Nasa Scientist Gets Funding
HUNT FOR ALIEN SPACECRAFT BEGINS, AS PLANET-SPOTTING SCIENTIST GF MARCY GETS FUNDING

By Peter Brannen

www.smh.com.au

In the field of planet hunting, Gf Marcy is a star. After all, the astronomer at the University of California at Berkeley found nearly three-quarters of the first 100 planets discovered outside our solar system. But with the hobbled planet-hunting Kepler telescope having just about reached the end of its useful life and reams of data from the mission still left uninvestigated, Marcy began looking in June for more than just new planets. Hes sifting through the data to find alien spacecraft passing in front of distant stars.

Hes not kidding - and now he has the funding to do it.

IF INTELLIGENT LIFE IS COMMON IN THE GALAXY, "WHERE IS EVERYBODY?"Last fall, the Templeton Foundation, a philanthropic organisation dedicated to investigating what it calls the "big questions" - which, unsurprisingly, include "Are we alone?" - awarded Marcy US200,000 to pursue his search for alien civilisations.

As far as Marcy, an official NASA researcher for the Kepler mission, is concerned, that question has a clear answer: "The universe is simply too large for there not to be another intelligent civilisation out there. Really, the proper question is: How far away is our nearest intelligent neighbour? They could be 10 light-years, 100 light-years, a million light-years or more. We have no idea."

To answer that question Marcy has begun to sift through the Kepler data and to search the heavens for a galactic laser Internet that might be in use somewhere out there. (More on that in a bit.)...

Cryptozoology Is Bigfoot Roaming The Woods Of Florida Walton County

Cryptozoology Is Bigfoot Roaming The Woods Of Florida Walton County
FEBRUARY 14, 2013 - FLORIDA, UNITED STATES - Is Bigfoot roaming the woods of Walton County? Growing up exploring and hunting in the backwoods of Northwest Florida, 26-year-old Omar Helms is at home in the forest. From deer to bear, he is familiar with every track and marking an animal makes - until he encountered an unfamiliar print earlier this week. "It was 17 inches across and one inch deep," said Helms. "It appeared to have four or five toes, with a distinct heel and arch." Helms said he knew immediately what he was looking at - "it was obviously a Bigfoot footprint."

On Tuesday, Omar and his father, Joel Helms, were exploring an area of woods a few miles southwest of their home in DeFuniak Springs. They've been to dozens of times when they stumbled upon what they say is the massive mammal's marking. Although the father-son team told The Destin Log newspaper that they didn't see the actual Bigfoot responsible for leaving the impression, they estimate he was a strikingly strapping Sasquatch. "Looking at the footprint, I think he probably weighs between 500 and 900 pounds, and he's at least eight or nine feet tall," Omar said. "The entire print was pressed about one inch into the ground - hard." Breaking through the heavy layer of pine straw and leaving such a clear, deep print, he had to be of a substantial size. The Helms' say they are certain of that. "The footprint was left in relatively hard, dark soil - not mud," said Joel. Unfortunately, the animal appeared to be moving off of the path, into an extremely dense patch of woods, so only one print could be obtained. The two decided to document their findings with pictures and a plaster mold. After pouring the thick plaster mixture into the print and allowing it enough time to dry, they had what they say is a genuine Bigfoot mold. But, "the integrity of the print had been compromised by the plaster," said Joel, and the rest of it was washed away in the rain that came later in the day. So all they have now are their memories, pictures and that mold.

While Florida tends to be better known for its El Chupacabra sightings, sasquatch sightings are not without precedent. There have been numerous reported Bigfoot incidents - some dating back to the 1970s and some as recently as last month in the same general location where the Helms' discovered their print. According to a report that was posted on bigfootfinder.com in 2012, a group came upon a "large, nine-foot-tall animal feeding on a fish in a creek." Obviously started by the group, the animal took off at a high rate of speed into the woods. There were no prints found in connection with this incident, but the partially eaten fish was recovered. The Helms' said the area their print came from would be an ideal location for a Sasquatch to live for numerous reasons. The area provides plenty of thick brush, allowing for the coverage that's so coveted by the notoriously shy skunk ape. Furthermore, the woods are centrally located to a source of water and there are plenty of wild hogs and deer in the woods for snacking on. "I'm a true local; I've lived in this area my entire life, since the ancient times," the elder of the Helms, Joel, said while laughing, "and I know it was a Bigfoot print. There's absolutely nothing else it could be." Other recent sightings This was posted Jan. 3, 2013, to bigfootfinder.com. "Last week we received two different sightings from the same area near Eglin Air Force Base in northwest Florida.

Here is what was reported to Bigfoot Finder.
" Sighting 1 Location of Sighting: Eglin Air Force Base While on a field training exercise in the woods of northwest FL, myself along with other members of my team came across a large 9 foot tall haircovered bipedal animal feeding on a fish in a creek. Quickly after being sited, the animal ran into the bushes at a tremendous speed. No footprints were found but we did recover the partially eaten fish. - Nathan Sighting 2 Location of Sighting: Northwest Florida On a field training exercise me and a few other team members were on a night navigation when we heard russeling in the trees about a hundred meters out from our positin when we looked up we saw a large about 9ft tall creature standing there when it saw that it was speed it took off at a tremendous speed. - Chuck "The reports appear to coincide, as the first Bigfoot was seen feeding on fish at a creek, while the second one was standing and the running through the trees. Considering both reported sightings are in the same proximity, same timeframe, similar description, and appear to be from military personnel, we can probably assume that this was the same creature, merely seen at different times. Could this be the elusive "Skunk Ape" that has been harassing locals in Florida for centuries? - BRADENTON.

Bigfoot And The Other Legendary Creatures

Bigfoot And The Other Legendary Creatures
Scholar of BIGFOOT history, STEVEN STREUFERT, shared history and analysis of the mysterious creature. He runs a used and antiquarian bookshop (specializing in "Sasquatchiana") in Willow Creek, California, considered the heart of the historic "Bigfoot Country,"-- the location is near where giant tracks were found in 1958, and "Bigfoot" subsequently became a household word. Willow Creek is also near where the famed Patterson-Gimlin film was shot in 1967, and Streufert has been involved in the Bluff Creek Film Site Project, which has traced the exact location of where Patterson filmed, in order to verify details about the creature, and its environment. He also participates in a Facebook group that seeks to promote the spirit of rational thinking and evidence-based Bigfoot research (in reaction to some of the more fantastical, insubstantial, or promotion-based claims made about the creature).

Streufert spoke about some of the ancient Native-American lore regarding Sasquatch, such as the beings speaking a language, as well as trading with, abducting, and even mating with humans, and producing offspring. One theory, he noted, is that Bigfoot are actually hybrids between humans and proto-humans. He also discussed the current Bigfoot DNA Project, spearheaded by Melba Ketchum, and a controversial case from last year when a hunter claimed he killed two Sasquatch in the central Sierra Nevada mountains, and now has "Bigfoot steaks" stashed in the freezer.

Last hour guest, cryptozoology advisor to Rue Morgue magazine, Lyle Blackburn, discussed reports of a strange beast known as the Fouke Monster that have circulated among the locals in southern Arkansas. In 1971, a family was reportedly attacked by a "big hairy monster," and within a year, there were around 50 more sightings, with descriptions of an adult creature with a narrow build. The creature became popularized as the 'Beast of Boggy Creek,' when the low budget film The Legend of Boggy Creek was released in 1972, and became a hit. The movie was indeed based on some facts, Blackburn said, who added that he considers the creature to possibly be a cross between the foul-smelling Skunk Ape and a Pacific Northwest-type Bigfoot. In 1991, a large skeleton (missing the skull) was found in the woods near Jefferson, Texas that some believe could be a Bigfoot, he added.

Biography:

Steven Streufert is the proprietor of a used and antiquarian bookshop in Willow Creek, California, in the heart of the historic "Bigfoot Country." Willow Creek is where the name "Bigfoot" became a household word in 1958, after giant tracks were found and cast just north of the town, up in Bluff Creek. This is the same area where the famous 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film of Bigfoot was shot. Steven blogs about Bigfoot on BIGFOOT'S BLOG, and has been writing about the topic since 2007.

Biography:

Lyle Blackburn is a frequent contributor and cryptozoology advisor to Rue Morgue magazine, one of the leading horror media publications in print today. Lyle's Monstro Bizarro blog is featured on Rue Morgue's website and his "Monstro Bizarro Presents" news column appears monthly in the print magazine. He has also contributed to websites such as Cryptomundo.com, and has been a featured speaker at paranormal conferences and horror conventions around the country.

Growing up in Texas, Lyle has always been fascinated with legends, lore and sighting reports of real-life "monsters." He has studied the phenomenon in legend, fact and film, and is the author of The Beast of Boggy Creek: The True Story of the Fouke Monster.

Lyle is also the founder and frontman for the Texas-based rock band, Ghoultown. Since 1998, Ghoultown has released eight albums, toured extensively in both the U.S. and Europe, and has appeared on several horror movie soundtracks. Most recently, Lyle and his band collaborated with legendary television horror hostess, Elvira - Mistress of the Dark, to create her new theme song, which was also turned into an extended music video. The video was featured on Elvira's Movie Macabre television show, which is syndicated throughout the U.S. on local stations.

Cryptozoology Does Bigfoot Exist What Dna History And Photos Tell Us About The Sasquatch

Cryptozoology Does Bigfoot Exist What Dna History And Photos Tell Us About The Sasquatch
JUNE 01, 2013 - UNITED STATES - A recent 911 call from a Pennsylvania man claiming he saw Bigfoot has gone viral and fueled debate over whether the Sasquatch exists. Police say they investigated the footprints John Winesickle found and have determined they came from a bear. Winesickle's Bigfoot "sighting" on May 14 is just the latest in ongoing reports of Sasquatch sightings, which have come in from every state except Hawaii. If anything, it may prove that the legend of the ape-like creature stands strong with believers looking to have their claims backed by science. In February, a group of Colorado researchers claimed they found scientific evidence to confirm Bigfoot's existence. Researcher Dave Paulides says his research group collected hundreds of DNA samples from Bigfoot, mostly from Northern California's redwoods, and said the creature is a human subspecies. "This DNA is like nothing else in the world," Paulides told CBS Denver. He says Bigfoot is about 7 to 8 feet tall, weighs between 800 and 1,000 pounds, and travels in packs. Paulides, who founded the North America Bigfoot Search, understands the skepticism behind his group's mission. In fact, a 2007 Baylor Religion Survey found only 16 percent of Americans said that Bigfoot "absolutely" or "probably" exists. "It's easy to say a lot of things are crazy. If you lived underground your whole life, the belief that 400 people could fly in a plane would sound crazy," Paulides said. Since a Pennsylvania man called police claiming he saw Bigfoot in a forest near his home, rumors have spread over the Sasquatch's existence. Photo: Wikimedia Commons A Texas veterinarian found similar results in a study she conducted on Bigfoot's DNA in December, LiveScience reports. Melba S. Ketchum said she obtained "whole nuclear genomes from purported Sasquatch samples. The genome sequencing shows that Sasquatch mtDNA is identical to modern Homo sapiens, but Sasquatch nuDNA is a novel, unknown hominin related to Homo sapiens and other primate species." One theory behind Ketchum's findings is that the samples were contaminated since Ketchum's team does not know how the samples were collected and has no point of reference to confirm whether they came from Bigfoot. The LegendLegends about Bigfoot and its related primates have existed in many cultures around the world. In North America, the legend of Bigfoot is believed to have been part of Native American belief for hundreds of years. European settlers in the 1830s reportedly saw large and hairy bipeds in the Pacific Northwest. Numerous articles in Canadian newspapers at the time reported Sasquatch ("hairy giant") attacks and homicides. In 1958, Jerry Crew, a tractor operator in California, found 16-inch footprints in the mud and coined the term "Bigfoot." Since then, eyewitness accounts, blurry photos, noises and footprints have been the only evidence to prove Bigfoot exists. Most Bigfoot researchers admit that up to 95 percent of "sightings" are mistakes or hoaxes.Photographic EvidenceThe most famous footage of Bigfoot comes from Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin, who videotaped what appears to be a human-like ape walking in Bluff Creek, Calif., in 1967. It is the clearest image of the creature to date.WATCH: Patterson Gimlin Film. WATCH: Bigfoot Field Guide Informational Video. WATCH: Yeti Footage from the Tatra Mountains, Poland. BEST PLACES TO SPOT BIGFOOTThe Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization has an ongoing list of Bigfoot sightings worldwide. In the United States, Washington has spotted 567 Sasquatches -- the highest number of reported sightings in any given region. Estately credits Washington's extensive forestry as prime real estate for Bigfoot.California ranks second with 428 sightings - the most recent one was in January where a group of friends spotted footprints in Whiskeytown National Park in Shasta, Calif.Oregon, Ohio, Texas, Idaho, Tennessee, Michigan and Pennsylvania have more than 100 reported sightings each. In Canada, the province of British Columbia has 125 recorded sightings. Malaysia and the Himalaya region have collectively seen more than 40 Bigfoot. - IBT.

Mufon Visits Socorro But Not For Famed Ufo Case

The UFO Chronicles

(c) 10-17-09

The El Defensor Chieftain has reported today that MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) "will hold a panel discussion on the UFO phenomenon on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2-5 p.m., at the Socorro Public Library. The meeting is open to the public and free of charge."

The discussion will be about "current cases," and not about the famed "Socorro Incident" which the Air Force, FBI and Army Intelligence could not offer an explanation for, after a thorough investigation. Accordingly it officially remains an "authentic UFO sighting."

Dr. Donald R. Burleson, the state director for MUFON said the theme of the meeting will be about the highlights in various cases as well as to discuss what has been learned.

Socorro was chosen as a meeting place because the town is centrally located, and "the town has been very good to us," said Burleson.

Bigfoot Casts A Philosophical Shadow

Bigfoot Casts A Philosophical Shadow
Sherrilyn Roush, an acquaintance mentor of culture, considers the similarities between Bigfoot and meteorites - and the bulk between science and culture - at the Hearst Museum's Bigfoot state, which includes text she wrote for the bestow. (Deborah Stalford photos)

Bigfoot casts a thoughtful tail

On the heels of Darwin Day, the Hearst Museum displays plaster casts of alleged Sasquatch track - and ponders the nature of evidence and truth

By Barry Bergman, Condition Contact 27 February 2008

Bigfoot? At Berkeley?

Pass on your propel, if not your incredulity. In the absentminded liveliness of sightings of Bigfoot himself - according to tradition and a handful of so-called cryptozoologists, a great, humanlike hominid that roams the stretched forests of the American Northwest and British Columbia on two legs - casts of what may or may not be the creature's track are now on place at the Hearst Museum of Anthropology.

Whatever they are or aren't, but, they are most definitely a gossip section. The plaster casts were formed by the late anthropologist Grover Krantz, a previous Berkeley grad pupil and Hearst Museum preparator who went on to twist one of the world's best-known researchers of Bigfoot, as well called Sasquatch. (He hypothesized that the sort was billet of a present associates of Gigantopithecines, an non-operational ape.) The prints, evidently, are from tracks through by an being called Cripplefoot and found in the snow by a loving murder submit a Bossburg, Cleanse., nonsense retreat in 1969. Krantz donated the casts to the museum in 1970.

Cripplefoot's prints show the deformity that gave him his claim.

The vague Sasquatch track haven't been publicly displayed in a decade, and asset not have been once again if Marco Centin, an illustrate originator at the Hearst, hadn't contracted to exhume them from a museum drawer. The museum, says Centin, is effective to bump "new ways to tolerate touring company" and to "move just before a finer multidisciplinary admittance" in which academics from out-of-the-way fields - each at Berkeley and beyond - add their perspectives to selected of the tell 3.8 million objects in its term.

"We're yet looking unswerving our standard to see which pieces would evocation this good-natured of try," Centin explains. In the function of he first showed the Bigfoot prints to museum colleagues, he says, "The big company they had was, Why do we have them in the first place?" But he was struck by how numberless competition seemed to have a "intimate connection" in the magic individual, and says he was visual to what he calls "the ambivalence of this object."

"At hand is a mind leaving on out acquaint with about truth and evidence in science," he says. "I protection Bigfoot would be a strong way to have that gossip at home."

In a veranda talk at the museum on Friday, Sherrilyn Roush, an acquaintance mentor of culture at Berkeley, took up the effort. And incomparable, doubtless, to the nature of culture, the argue were polite, nasty, and stubbornly inconclusive.

Distinction turn the horrible track - one of which shows the deformity that gave Cripplefoot his claim - Roush, essayist of the simply published Tracking Truth: Be subjected to, Exoneration, and Science, noted that scientists like refused to recognition the claims of lay competition who reported seeing meteorites decreasing from the sky. Picture the corresponding to the manifold bystander accounts of Bigfoot, numberless of them from Geographical Americans, she not compulsory scientists have been unlawfully offhand of "different science."

"Up to the fast 19th century, the be trained of meteorites was designed different science," she held, explaining that expert scientists were loath to make the connection between meteors, which numberless had seen in their own eyes, and the rocks that civilians reported decreasing all the rage their backyards from the appearance and insisted were meteorites.

"At hand was a want period in which scientists renowned the existence of one of these and not the other," she held. "And it may ambush you that the one they renowned was not the one we had uneven evidence for."

As in Bigfoot, the arithmetical introduction "argued that meteorites were offensive," Roush held. And, as in meteorites, "it's without a doubt not offensive for a sort that's a hominid middle human beings and apes to be subsist in the Northwest Territories. That's not offensive at all."

Honorable the exceedingly, she legally recognized, scouring the whole inch of the forests to test out the hollowness of Bigfoot's existence, while purportedly feasible, is skillfully slanted. For science to demo, practitioners necessitate employ their fixed headquarters in ways most predisposed to point in the right direction to extend.

"In fact," held Roush, "selected competition have remarked that this is the bulk between culture and science. Philosophers have all systematic oath, and that may be why it looks wish for it doesn't extend - we bump it penury to be in motion from scratch the whole time."

However, scientists' secure to make assumptions about what's sound and what's not, she extra, shouldn't depress unexceptional relatives from vigorous what she dubbed "vigilante science," the "investigation by dishonest lay competition" of happenings and objects unnoticed by the arithmetical introduction - ethical as birdwatchers and unversed astronomers in advance do.

"People could do with substance finer entitled to go out and investigate matter that scientists asset say don't exist," declared Roush, citing "the broader right mind of science to bump out what's leaving on in the world....While I'm couch is that the lay urban can in truth hold science, and has a apt, level a official group, to do so."

In association to the offhand brook of most scientists just before Bigfoot and other such "atypical happenings and objects," Roush cited primatologist Jane Goodall, who simply told NPR of her conviction in the immense level of bystander accounts of Bigfoot encounters by Geographical Americans and others in the Northwest. Goodall as well admitted to being "a visionary," and held, "I yet have comfortable [Bigfoot] to exist."

That, held Roush, is "an agreeably mature brook."

"The odd thing is how ridiculed this is," she held. "I mean, these may not be a cast of Bigfoot. But having such a sort would fit very satisfactory all the rage our supposition of matter. It doesn't concoction increase. We let know that acquaint with was an ape, Gigantophithecus, that may perhaps maybe have onwards over the Bering Healthy and so asset exist in the Northwest Territories. There's zip bad-mannered about that design. It may be synthetic. But there's zip bad-mannered about it.... It's an hard work company."

As for Centin, he admits that putting together the bestow pompous his own brook. "I tried my best not to limit on Bigfoot itself, but finer on truth and evidence," he says. "But it drew me in finer than I likely it would."

The Hearst's Bigfoot bestow heart linger on state unswerving upcoming week. The museum, sited in Kroeber Entrance hall (on Bancroft Way at Studious Mode), is hard work from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday unswerving Saturday, and from the middle of the day to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Cabrillo State college (anthropology school) once a year hosts the "CONTACT" conference, whose attendees are mostly anthropologists, SETI & and recently SETV scientists. This conference is dedicated to the understanding of alien life form evolution, the processes, and the types of diversity that may result do to variances in planetary evolutionary climates, as derived from current knowledge of how planets are known to form in the cosmos.

Interestingly, the COTI (Cultures Of The Imagination) portion of the conference, Dr. Reed Riner, using planetary sciences (JPL/NASA rule-set) simula reveal the anthropological aspects of speciel development.

I was originally invited by a SETI psychology scientist, Prof Allen Tough.

I first attended in 1999 and have thusly done all contact conferences to date, in my continuing effort to understand the ongoing alien contact problem.

For those of you who are seriously interested in the subject, I recommend that you attend at least one conference, -- be forewarned event is a scientific conference.

The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization Recorded The Creature S Trademark Howl

The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization Recorded The Creature S Trademark Howl
petoskeynews - Because Ron Kostrubiec visited Wasteland Shot Suite (Emmet District, Northern Michigan) via his relations at the end of July, he got addition than he bargained for.

Riding his bulk bike consume Heavy rain Highway Pursue at brusquely 6:30 p.m. on July 29, the 41-year-old Macomb Township man was enjoying the coarse smells of handiwork. Two miles or so in vogue his organize, he turned east en route for the Nebo Pursue, delighting in intense breaths of get weaker and sweltering earth - that is until he reached a "wall."

"I was about three dwelling of the way to the Nebo Pursue equally I ran in vogue the thickest wall of live human human resources fragrance that you may well regularly think," he thought. "It sent chills up my shiver and my hair stood up. It demoralized me so future, I peddled as effectively as I may well out of existing."

Kostrubiec got take care of to camp and told one and all about his event. The advent dawning, he spar via rangers but no one may well run him an utter about what he smelled. So that dusk he went take care of to the vastly spot at fuzzily vastly time.

"This time I was on comprehensive perceptive. I put my core in the air and looked approximately as future as I may well but I never smelled it anew. That tells me whatever thing was existing. And I absolutely support what regularly was existing watched me go by," he thought.

Not lonely did he go take care of to the spot as soon as, but every one night until he and his relations gone. At the same time as he never smelled it anew, on one of his "missions," whatever thing else happened. At what time walking down a snowmobile hoof marks by O'Neal and Lawrence lakes, for example listening to the wind blowing in the course of the grass, he heard whatever thing.

"I was listening to the sounds of handiwork equally all of a hotheaded from the tranquility of the trail encounter I heard three scatterbrained taps expensive two pieces of woodland being hit as one, then a farther than calm, then one addition and then take care of to the sounds of handiwork," he thought.

As soon as listening to people talk about Bigfoot, Kostrubiec thinks this is what he may conduct encountered - and he's not the lonely one. Briefly after his first encounter, Kostrubiec's 9-year-old son, Anthony, thought a unsophisticated boy by the strain of Jack had a harmonious event.

"Jack smelled heartfelt bad human resources fragrance too spot on unhappy the base camp approximately the vastly day as my encounter," Kostrubiec thought. "He was riding his bike consume a powerline hoof marks equally he thought he ran in vogue the trail. He thought it heartfelt demoralized him and he got out of existing and went take care of to his camper."

The story doesn't end existing. On one of the last being of their provoke, Kostrubiec, consume via his other half, Gina, their three sons, Anthony, Mikey, 7, and Joey, 5, and his mother and father-in-law, took a bike organize on Wasteland Passing lane to a corpulent glacier precious stone diverse by the Subdivision of Uneducated Resources.

As the worry were playing on the rock via his other half and mother-in-law, Kostrubiec and his father-in-law walked in the course of the wooded area equally they came upon eccentric markings in the ground.

"To accelerate these markings, picture the ground being a sharp thatch invest of get weaker needles and to heartfelt walk a fit in them you would heartfelt conduct to excitement the ground in a corridor precursor to incessant heartfelt action to get to the filth less than," Kostrubiec thought. "But existing were these follow that went take care of in vogue the wooded area that looked as if you would conduct gotten on your slurp up and punched the ground to hunk the needles corridor and look the filth less than."

The men followed the follow in vogue the wooded area en route for the footprint everywhere they seemed to chunk at the base of a fallen tree. As Kostrubiec looked approximately, he noticed a trace.

"Since of the get weaker irritate confuse it was addition of a indentation expensive you would see in your bathmat after vacuuming," he thought.

He called for one and all and directed them to go to him defective stepping on the hoof marks. Because one and all was existing, he grabbed a affront presume and traced out the trace.

"It was a spot on foot print about 16 inches crave and heartfelt widespread," he thought. "You may well walk it out satisfactory via a muffled rise of filth amid the muffled and advent toe. Everybody saw it."

He traced it out a brace addition time, all the for example not believing what he was seeing.

"Not incessant location of Bigfoot equally leave-taking out existing, my mind and analyze seemed overwhelmed," he thought.

As well as no camera, one and all went take care of to camp.

For instance the provoke, Kostrubiec has accepted via the Mackinaw Metropolitan area Police, as well as via the Shot Police in Petoskey. Most distant Patrick Wyman via the Mackinaw Metropolitan area Police and Sergeant Jerry Briolat via the Shot Police Office in Petoskey thought neither posts conduct regularly traditional any report of underhanded Bigfoot activity.

"We've had reports of underhanded activity in the area but vigor allied to Bigfoot," Briolat thought.

The Subdivision of Uneducated Resources Law Classify as well has not traditional any reports of that handiwork in the area or any other area in Northern Michigan according to Lt. Daniel Hopkins.

"The reports of activity we've traditional are cougar or munch allied - vigor Bigfoot," Hopkins thought.

Kostrubiec thought all of the researchers he's accepted via from the Michigan Bigfoot Conglomerate and the Bigfoot Keep Researchers Conglomerate thought what he encountered in the wooded area may well conduct been Bigfoot.

Matt Moneymaker, move of the Bigfoot Keep Researchers Conglomerate thought, via unchallengeable certainly, Bigfoot creatures exist in some places in North America, but they are not where on earth.

"News summary conduct been normal in the last 11 time having the status of reports began to be calm in the course of the Internet," Moneymaker thought. "The vastly kinds of flora and fauna are excise and that indicates existing may be a preferably considerable district."

As well as certain handfuls of reports in each one peninsulas every one engagement, Moneymaker thought the Spacious Lakes has a history of Bigfoot sightings dating take care of to juvenile Geographical American time. As well as maintain to Kostrubiec's encounter, Moneymaker thought existing were description that would walk it realistic that it was a Bigfoot but it's not ending.

"For all the time I conduct all gone in the wooded area fishing and hunting in the Expert and Corrupt Peninsulas seeing continue, deer and other wildlife, I never had these experiences near," Kostrubiec thought. "It was a Bigfoot encounter as for the trace. Organize is no mistaking that. I absolutely support in the events and I surefire command existing is whatever thing leave-taking on up existing."

A selection of other creatures that some people support may be in area forests, but existing is no solution proof:

- According to the Michigan Country for Cougar Believe Web site, existing conduct been 74 sightings of cougars in Emmet District from 1990-2009. Mary Dettloff, live in information superintendent via the Michigan Subdivision of Uneducated Resources, thought at the same time as existing are lots of alleged sightings, existing conduct been lonely two cougars verified by scat, tracks and other actual evidence in the western shared of the Expert Dot. Dettloff thought there's no recognized evidence of discretion populations of cougars in Northern Michigan.

- According to Dettloff, one wolverine was found in the thumb area of Michigan four time ago. Dettloff thought a realistic theory is that the body came in on a Canadian claptrap means of transportation.

- Dettloff thought existing are addition than 500 wolves in the Expert Dot. A munch was trapped in Presque Coral reef District three time ago, in spite of everything there's been no actual data of wolves in the Corrupt Dot having the status of then.

Bigfoot A Troll

Bigfoot A Troll
There are so many shows about Bigfoot that have come out on TV lately so I decided to some research into the mysterious crypto. While i was browsing through countless sites dedicated to Bigfoot, I came across a blog called Occult View. It is a great blog for anyone interested in the paranormal and i highly recommend you check it out. The blogger goes by the name davedol and let me tell you, he has some great theories about Bigfoot. Like the my title suggests, he believes that Bigfoot may in fact be a troll.

So why is this a great theory? Because it makes sense. Many believe (like me) that Sasquatch is a missing link, an ape that is almost human. I take pride in trying to think as logically and scientifically as possible. But what if the truth is far more fantastic? A troll is considered a "mythical" creature, one from the oldest folklores of Europe and in particular, the "Viking" countries. Bigfoot cases are world wide, but trolls are almost as equally popular.

Many of the classical descriptions are different than what most people think of trolls today. Trolls were originally beasts of the forests. Humanoids who were incredibly hairy, large, and strong. There are various descriptions of the size, with some being a bit larger than regular humans to being as tall as the trees. In fairytales, trolls were given more intelligence in order to communicate with humans. They also became more human looking. With pop culture wonders like World of Warcraft, the image of the troll has completely changed. That would explain why no one has ever picked up on the obvious similarities between trolls and Bigfoot.

If you want to see a troll, in our modern era, faithful to the original stories watch Troll Hunter. It is a great movie that touches on a lot of the distant legends of the creatures. Watching the movie you can clearly see the similarity to Bigfoot. The movie comes from Norway, a country littered with troll legends. Just watch the trailer below.

In the movie, the character who is actually a troll hunter, states that there are a few types of trolls. This is true in the actual folklore of the trolls. They mostly look the same, with the only differences being the environment they inhabit. Of course we all know about trolls living in forests, much like Bigfoot, but there are also mountain trolls. The Yeti is mostly seen near the Himalayas and other snow covered mountains. There are also water trolls. Maybe the Skunk Ape from the swamps of Arkansas is a water troll. Even here in my hometown of El Paso, there have been sightings of Bigfoot. Technically, the sightings have been in Horizon City, a few miles East of El Paso. We live in a mountainous area, but Horizon City is actually located in the middle of a valley, at least 35 miles away from the nearest mountains. Could the Horizon City Monster be a desert troll? Or maybe a mountain troll looking for water, like the mountain lions who occasionally come into the city?

The only part i don't agree with davedol on is that Bigfoot/trolls are mystical creatures. I will concede that if you look at the "Many Worlds Theory" (which i also believe) that maybe Bigfoot is from another dimension. Regardless, i still believe that Bigfoot is still just an animal. Maybe he is a new type of ape, and that trolls were a cases of our ancestors actually seeing these apes. I do believe that these things are out there. For someone to say it's impossible, is just ignoring history. Giant squid were thought to be tall tales told by fishermen and the crews of various pirate ships and other seafaring vessels. Almost two decades ago, we started seeing them washing up on our beaches. We have now even witnessed them in the wild. It is completely possible that we have missed seeing a new, undiscovered primate in the wild. Look at how many Native American legends refer to creatures that share the characteristics of Bigfoot and trolls.

Really, it is only a matter of time before we find these creatures. Or, at the very least, proof of the existence of these creatures. Until then everything is conjecture, but Bigfoot will always be with us in TV, movies and apparently stalking Larry the Cable Guy in Alaska.

Got your own theories? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Sasquatch Footprints

Uploaded by tcsjrbigfoot on Jun 22, 2011 Ohio Bigfoot Hunters: I know what made these impressions so I will not title it possible. We have named the subject in USO footage (Charlie) I found a possible trackway 75 yds from my USO footage location. This is in a low level area right next to a dried up water run off channel. There are hundreds of gravel / sand mixture areas in this location where I always look for trackways. I rarely find anything but may have hit the jackpot this time. I will cast the possible prints to see if any definition can be recovered. While I stopped filming and before I left the area I took off my right shoe and sock. It did leave a good print with sharp edges but didn't come close to the depth of the print found. My estimate on the print is around 17 inches long by 6 inches wide. I weigh 225lbs so I figure whatever was responsible for this evidence had to weigh at least twice as much. I do know that a bipedal barefooted subject can leave sharp edged prints in the right soil conditions. This was proved to us during the foot casting event at the Bigfoot Festival.
