EDWIN EASLEY was the Provost Marshall in treasure of the Military Police/Security at Roswell arrived the alleged crash in July, 1947. In a story that didn't get much (if any) mainstream coverage at all, it has been reported that Jesse Marcel Jr. passed away on August 24th at the age of 76. Jesse Marcel Jr. was of course the son of Major Jesse Marcel, the U.S. Air Force intelligence officer who was first on the scene of the Roswell crash, and the man who was first to break his silence about the incident to UFO researcher Stanton Friedman. His cause of death is suspected to be a heart attack. Marcel's daughter Denice posted the following on her father's Facebook page: Jesse Marcel Jr. and a replica of the I-beam with hieroglyphics that he claims his father brought home. It is with a sad heart that I have to break this bad news to the world. At the age of 76 my Dad Jesse Marcel Jr.'s life on earth has ended. Although it is a very sad time for our entire family I am happy to know that he lived an eventful life. I am so proud to be his daughter. He had taught me so many things in life and one of the more important things I learned from my Dad was to never back down in the face of adversity. For anyone who wants to know I will be posting, the funeral arrangements once they have been made. He is survived by his wife Linda, his children Jesse Jr., Myself, John, Marissa, Mackenzie, Aimee, Ashley and Mark and all of his grandchildren. Although my Dad and Grandpa are no longer with us... As the story goes, after retrieving the alleged UFO debris from the property of Mac Brazel, Major Marcel stopped by his house before returning to Roswell Army Air Field to show his wife and son the debris. Jesse Marcel, Jr. has always maintained that the material was not of this Earth, and has even described in detail the I-beams that he saw, with purple hieroglyphic-like writing on them. His experiences are detailed in his 2007 book "The Roswell Legacy: The Untold Story of the First Military Officer at the 1947 Crash Site". Aside from his legacy of being involved in one of the most famous UFO reports in history, Marcel was a flight surgeon in the Navy and National Guard, serving during both the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Iraq War. After retiring from military service, Marcel worked as a doctor in private practice. He had recently retired. Unlike many of the alleged Roswell witnesses who crawled out of the woodwork once the story became famous, Marcel and his father always seemed the most credible. The story was what it was, with seemingly few embellishments. They didn't see aliens, they didn't talk to aliens, they just found some weird material that seemed to be way beyond what was manufactured on the Earth at that time, or even today. Jesse Marcel Jr. is a retired, full-bird Colonel, who served as a flight surgeon for 18-months in Iraq. He spent 38 years serving his country with honor and loyalty. IMarcel joined the US Navy in 1962 and was assigned to the USS Renville (APA 227) and shortly thereafter participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis, attached to combat units as a member of ship's company. The Renville then sailed for West Pac and on to the South East Pacific Area where he received combat training in case of enemy attack on the ship. After the West Pac tour, he completed his specialty training in Otolaryngology at the Naval Hospital, San Diego, California. He retired from the Navy in July of 1971 and entered private practice in Helena, Montana. In 1973 he joined the Montana Army National Guard, and went through helicopter flight training as a flight surgeon at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, and earned his wings in 1981. During his career in the National Guard, he was appointed State Surgeon of the State of Montana and retired from the military the second time in August of 1996 on his 60th birthday. The Iraqi war required him to be called back to active duty in October of 2004 shortly after his 68th birthday where he served as flight surgeon for the 189th Attack Helicopter Battalion. He flew more than 225 hrs of combat duty while in Iraq, being discharged again from active duty in December of 2005 to the Ready Reserve. By then he had logged more than 3,000 hours of flight time. Anyone familiar with the Roswell incident knows the name Jesse Marcel. Major Marcel was the first officer on the scene of the crash - he was the guy who filled his trunk with crash debris and took it home before taking it to the base. Stanton Friedman's interview with him ignited the modern Roswell mythic narrative. While the debris was at his home, his son, Jesse, Jr. got to touch it, an experience that has since become the stuff of legend.
The younger Marcel died of a heart attack on August 24. He was 77.
