"Not really Bigfoot, and not really Kent"
One of the arguments for the existence of the Yeti and Sasquatch is that southeast Asia has produced some fossil remains of a creature named "Gigantopithecus Blacki", a very large apelike creature that could fit the description of the enigmatic "abominable snowman." More controversially, part of a fossilized skull was found in California that some primatologists believe may have come from "Gigantopithecus" or a close relative. Given the "land bridge" that connected Asia and the Americas during the last ice age, it is at least plausible that this large ape could have found its way to the Pacific Northwest.
The main problem with this hypothesis, grounded as it is in the fossil record, is that the last remains of "Gigantopithecus" date back around a hundred thousand years ago. For the creature to have survived up to the present day a population would have to have lived for a very long time without producing any verifiable remains. Another blow to the hypothesis is the discovery that the "Yeti" relics of Asia are generally the remains of the Himalayan Black Bear, which does in fact walk upright more often than other bear species and can be mistaken for an ape at long distances. Some investigators have hypothesized that the North American Bigfoot might likewise be a kind of bear, which would imply some of the most famous evidence for the creature such as the Patterson film must have been faked. The Patterson Bigfoot might be a special effect, but it clearly is not a bear.
At any rate, none of this is really relevant to today's story because it concerns a Bigfoot sighting in England, a country that has no large fossil apes and in which wild bears have been extinct for many centuries. So what's left? Presumably it's either a guy in a suit or the real thing.
An article detailing the sightings appeared on the Tunbridge Wells People forum earlier this week, asking local residents if they has seen the elusive sasquatch. 'One of the strangest stories to emerge about Tunbridge Wells this week is the claims that a British Bigfoot has been spotted in woodland near the town,' it says.
'The Kentish Apeman has recently been spotted on Tunbridge Wells Common - the exact spot where it was also apparently seen 70 years ago. 'The beast is reportedly eight-foot tall, has red demonic eyes and is covered in hair.'
A local painter and decorator, named Graham S, claims he was told by an elderly client about a sighting in 1942. 'One particular day she went to the common with her husband and was sitting on a bench when they became aware of a shuffling noise behind them,' he explained.
'Upon turning around both her husband and herself saw what she described as a tall, hairy ape like creature with eyes that were burning a reddish colour and it was moving towards them at a slow pace.'
Seventy years is a long time between sightings for a living creature or population of them to go without detection, especially in England which lacks the massive forests of the Pacific Northwest that just might allow a large animal to survive undetected. Also, that the Bigfoot was sighted in exactly the same spot is suspicious. I know that if I were a hoaxer, the area of a previous sighting is exactly where I would break out my gorilla suit. On the other hand, if this Bigfoot is some sort of paranormal manifestation rather than a living animal, it also is possible that it could be tied to the area in some manner.

As mentioned in a recent post I have been fortunate to obtain copies of several Department of Defence UAP files from the period 1985-1994. These files have only once before been seen by UAP researchers, namely by Dominic McNamara and myself at RAAF Base Edinburgh, in 2004. However, no one, until now, has received copies of the entire files.

The first file is titled "[RAAF Headquarters Support Command, Victoria Barracks, Victoria] UAS [Unusual Aerial Sightings] policy [UFO, Unidentified Flying Objects]" according to the National Archives of Australia's RecordSearch database. Although the contents of the file are outside the date range accessible via the Archives Act, the RAAF sent the file to the NAA in 1994.
Its title, according to our 2004 examination, was simply "Unidentified Aerial Sightings." The file cover indicated it belonged to Chief of Air Staff, Headquarters Support Command. It is 65 pages long.
The most interesting paper on the file is a copy of a Support Command "Air Staff Instruction No. 3/A/3 on Unusual Aerial Sightings, reference AF84/3508 Part 1, of 12 April 1984. It includes the following text:
"1. The RAAF is often the first point of contact for reports of Unusual Aerial Sightings (UAS) which are popularly referred to as Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO). However, the term UFO is emotive and inaccurate, and its use by RAAF personnel should be avoided because:
a. the term is often loosely applied to lights, sounds and objects which have not been airborne, and
b. most sightings are easily and rapidly identifiable as natural or man-made objects seen or heard in unusual conditions.
2. Most UAS reports from members of the public have been found by the RAAF to be based on the observation of natural or man-made phenomena. Nevertheless, most reports are made by responsible people who:
a. are seeking an intelligent assessment of an experience which they have not previously encountered or
b. believe that their sighting may be concerned with the defence or security of Australia.
The RAAF accepts reports on UAS and attempts an allocation of reliability. However, few reports are of any direct interest to the RAAF."
It goes on to talk about USAF Project Blue Book and the Condon report and cites the report's conclusion "Experience in the RAAF since the early 1950's supports the Condon Report conclusion."
The Instruction then sets out "Responsibilities. The RAAF is responsible for the acceptance and evaluation of UAS reports. Those which suggest a defence or national security implication are further investigated..." Under "Execution Officers commanding are to appoint UAS Investigation Officers..." A questionnaire is attached to the Instruction - the one we are all familiar with.
THE INSTRUCTION CONTAINS ONE ODD SENTENCE:
"In general terms, further investigation is to be confined to sightings of a terrestrial, rather than an extra-terrestrial nature. Sightings of interest to the RAAF would involve incursions, into Australian airspace by man-made objects, and particularly include sightings near defence or other sensitive establishments."
My reading of this is that the RAAF would not investigate if a 'genuine' UAP close encounter occurred which was caused by a 'genuine' extra-terrestrial object!

While physical proof of the extraterrestrial origin of UFOs is not in the hands of civilian investigators, there is a growing mass of evidence that points to the distinct possibility that some UFOs represent the presence, near the Earth, of a non-human intelligence.
GOVERNMENT SECRECY
The release of thousands of pages of previously classified official military/intelligence documents (after denying their existence) makes it clear that the U. S. Government long concealed UFO information. There is no reason to assume this policy has ended.
UFO CRASHES
In view of impressive first-hand testimony to July, 1947, events in New Mexico, it appears likely that the remains of at least one crashed UFO were recovered by the U. S. Government. In recent years, the desperate efforts of the U. S. Air Force to assign illogical explanations for the wreckage and bodies allegedly recovered, point to a cover-up or to incompetence.

WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF FUFOR?
The origins of the Fund for UFO Research can be traced back to the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP), in the 1960's, the world's leading private UFO organization. Most of the Fund's organizers had been part of NICAP: staff members, volunteers, scientific advisors. Several years after the fall of NICAP, these men and women gathered for a reunion and remained in touch. The eventual outcome was the formation of the Fund.
In 1981, the Fund published its first set of recently-declassified U. S. Government documents, secured through the Freedom of Information Act, and began selling 200 pages of mainly CIA and FBI material. This was the beginning of a major program to publish otherwise unavailable material for the press and the public, which became one of the most important moves in the Fund's early history.
The Fund entered the "alien abduction" mystery in late 1981, supporting the psychological study of a group of "abductees", conducted by Ted Bloecher, Budd Hopkins and Dr. Aphrodite Clamar, with psychologist Dr. Elizabeth Slater. The conclusion-that the reports could not be explained by victim psychopathology-became one of the first important indications that "abductions" could be real.
Also in late 1981, the Fund purchased a set of microfilms of the files of the Air Force's Project Blue Book for reference and research purposes. On October 27, the Fund, along with Citizens Against UFO Secrecy (CAUS) held a press conference at the National Press Club dealing with the CAUS suit against the National Security Agency for refusing to release a large number of UFO-related documents.
In 1983, the Fund published a second set of declassified U.S. Government documents: 200 pages from the CIA, Air Force and State Department, mainly from the 1970's. Monthly meetings of the Executive Committee were moved to the auditorium of the Heritage Foundation building, where Fred Whiting was executive director of the American Space Foundation.
In the Second Quarter, the Fund made the first awards in the name of Alfred P. Lawson: 500 to UPIAR, and 1,500 to John Schuessler for his work on the Cash/Landrum case.
By the second half of the year, the Fund had sold more than 200 copies of the first set of government documents, and more than 150 of the second. For the year, the Fund did four radio broadcasts for almost four hours.

I was waiting for a sound because I live near Camp Lejeune and New River Air Station. There was no sound. There were no aircraft prior to or afterwards. Some of the lights went to the north and some went to the south, while some continued on the same SE path.I lost sight of them beyond the trees. I was curious and thought it was odd due to the lack of noise due to the speed they were moving. I looked and listened for a few minutes, but saw nothing else. I called the dogs in.
