Bigfoot is fairly well know around the world and in the United States, but real or hoax I'll leave others to decide. There is an organization called "Bigfoot Field Research Organization" [BFRO] that has been checking on 50 Bigfoot sightings in West Virginia dating back to 1975. Their web site is http://www.bfro.net/. They have listed over 4000 sightings or tracks in North America. Many sightings in West Virginia have been from Monroe, Pocahontas, Greenbrier, Nicholas and Randolph Counties. They did a research project in West Virginia this past April.

Back when my son was younger and interested in Bigfoot we used to subscribe to "The Bigfoot News." Listings of all the latest Bigfoot sightings were included. I do not think it is still being published.

Extraterrestrial Memes A Game Changer In The Solar System Dwarf Planet Ceres May Have Underground Ice

SEPTEMBER 12, 2013 - SPACE - In March of 2015, NASA's Dawn mission will arrive at the dwarf planet Ceres, the first of the smaller class of planets to be discovered and the closest to Earth.

The dwarf planet Ceres, which orbits the sun in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, is a unique body in the solar system, bearing many similarities to Jupiter's moon Europa and Saturn's moon Enceladus, both considered to be potential sources for harboring life.

On Thursday, August 15, Britney Schmidt, science team liaison for the Dawn Mission, and Julie Castillo-Rogez, planetary scientist from JPL, spoke in an Google Plus Hangout titled 'Ceres: Icy World Revealed?' about the growing excitement related to the innermost icy body.

"I think of Ceres actually as a game changer in the solar system," Schmidt said.

"Ceres is arguably the only one of its kind."

THE INNERMOST ICY BODY

When Ceres was discovered in 1801, astronomers first classified it as a planet. The massive body traveled between Mars and Jupiter, where scientists had mathematically predicted a planet should lie. Further observations revealed that a number of small bodies littered the region, and Ceres was downgraded to just another asteroid within the asteroid belt. It wasn't until Pluto was classified as a dwarf planet in 2006 that Ceres was upgraded to the same level.

Ceres is the most massive body in the asteroid belt, and larger than some of the icy moons scientists consider ideal for hosting life. It is twice the size of Enceladus, Saturn's geyser-spouting moon that may hide liquid water beneath its surface.

Unlike other asteroids, the Texas-sized Ceres has a perfectly rounded shape that hints toward its origins.

"The fact that Ceres is so round tells us that it almost certainly had to form in the early solar system," Schmidt said. She explained that a later formation would have created a less rounded shape.

The shape of the dwarf planet, combined with its size and total mass, reveal a body of incredibly low density.

"Underneath this dusty, dirty, clay-type surface, we think that Ceres might be icy," Schmidt said. "It could potentially have had an ocean at one point in its history."

"The difference between Ceres and other icy bodies [in the solar system] is that it's the closest to the sun," Castillo-Rogez said.

Less than three times as far as Earth from the sun, Ceres is close enough to feel the warmth of the star, allowing ice to melt and reform.

Investigating the interior of the dwarf planet could provide insight into the early solar system, especially locations where water and other volatiles might have existed.

"Ceres is like the gatekeeper to the history of water in the middle solar system," Schmidt said.

Ceres rotates about once every nine hours.

STUDYING THE SURFACE

As large as Ceres is, its distance has made it a challenge to study from Earth. Images taken by the space-based Hubble Space Telescope provided some insight to its surface, but to be sighted, features could be no larger than 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) in diameter.

Several round circular spots mar the terrain, features which Schmidt said could be any one of a number of geologic terrains, including potentially impact basins or chaos terrains similar to those found on Europa. The largest of these, named Piazzi in honor of the dwarf planet's discoverer, has a diameter of about 250 km (155 miles). If this feature is an impact basin, it would have been formed by an object approximately 25 km (15.5 miles) in size.

But for Schmidt, this is another possible indication about the dwarf planet's surface.

"It doesn't mean that Ceres hasn't been hit by something bigger than 25 kilometers," she said. "It just means that whatever is going on on Ceres has totally erased [the topographic signature of that event]."

Ceres may have suffered major impacts, especially during periods of heavy bombardment early in the solar system's history. If the surface contained ice, however, those features may have been erased.

Telescopes on Earth have also been able to study the light reflecting from the planet and read its spectra.

"The spectrum is telling you that water has been involved in the creation of materials on the surface," Schmidt said.

The spectrum indicates that water is bound up in the material on the surface of Ceres, forming a clay. Schmidt compared it to the recent talk of minerals found by NASA's Curiosity on the surface of Mars.

"[Water is] literally bathing the surface of Ceres," she said.

In addition, astronomers have found evidence of carbonates, minerals that form in a process involving water and heat. Carbonates are often produced by living processes.

The original material formed with Ceres has mixed with impacting material over the last 4.5 billion years, creating what Schmidt calls "this mixture of water-rich materials that we find on habitable planets like the Earth and potentially habitable planets like Mars."

A prime site for life?

Water is considered a necessary ingredient for the evolution of life as we know it. Planets that may have once contained water, such as Mars, as well as moons that could contain it today, like Enceladus and Europa, are all thought to be ideal for hosting or having once hosted life.

Because of its size and closeness, Schmidt calls Ceres "arguably more interesting than some of these icy satellites."

"If it's icy, it had to have an ocean at some point in time," she said.

Castillo-Rogez compared Earth, Europa, and Ceres, and found that the dwarf planet bore many similarities to Earth, perhaps more than Jupiter's icy moon. Both Earth and Ceres use the Sun as a key heat source, while Europa takes its heat from its tidal interaction with Jupiter. In addition, the surface temperature of the dwarf planet averages 130 to 200 degrees Kelvin, compared to Earth's 300 K, while Europa is a frosty 50 to 110 K.

"At least at the equator where the surface is warmer, Ceres could have preserved a liquid of sorts," Castillo-Rogez said.

Liquid water could exist at other points on the dwarf planet known as cold traps, shadowed areas where frozen water could remain on the surface. Such icy puddles have been found on Earth's moon.

"The chemistry, thermal activity, the heat source, and the prospect for convection within the ice shell are the key ones that make us think that Ceres could have been habitable at least at some point in its history," Castillo-Rogez said.

The future of Ceres

As scientists develop more information about Europa and Enceladus, there has been a greater call to investigate the two prime sites for life. But Schmidt and Castillo-Rogez think that Ceres could also be a great boon for astrobiology and space exploration.

"It's not a difficult environment to investigate," she said. "As we think about the future of landed missions for people and rovers, why not go to Ceres?"

Ceres is thought to contain a thin outer layer of dust and rock over an icy layer.

Though it would be more challenging to drill into than Europa, which boasts an icy surface layer, the dwarf planet would make a great site to rove around on. Schmidt also noted that it could make a great launching point when it comes to reaching the outer solar system. Its smaller mass would make it easier to land on - and leave - than Mars, which could make it a good site for manned missions.

"We have such a big planet bias, we have such a bias for things that look exactly like us," Schmidt said.

"In this kind of special place in the solar system, we have a very unique object that might be telling us a lot about what we don't know about building a habitable planet."

NASA's Dawn mission launched September 27, 2007. It traveled to the asteroid Vesta, where it remained in orbit from July 2011 to July 2012 before heading to Ceres. It is slated to spend five months studying the dwarf planet, though Schmidt expressed hope that the craft would continue working beyond the nominal mission, allowing the team to study the icy body even longer.

Castillo-Rogez pointed out that not only will Dawn reach Ceres in 2015, the European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft will be escorting the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko around the sun that year, while NASA's New Horizons mission will be reaching Pluto and its moon Charon.

"'15 is going to be a great year for icy bodies," Castillo-Rogez said.

"I think when we get to Ceres, it's just going to be an absolute game changer, a new window into the solar system that we wouldn't have without going there," Schmidt said. - HUFFINGTON POST.

The Us Military New Space Plane

They say that we are no longer in space. I found it hard to believe that the United States would depend on the Russians to take us to and from the space station without a back up plan. When the Space Shuttle program ended, the media told us that we had no way to get back into space without the help of the Russians. But we do have a Black Box Program to cover just such situations as this!

The Boeing X-37 (also known as the Orbital Test Vehicle) is an American unmanned vertical-takf, horizontal-landing (VTHL) spaceplane. The X-37 is operated by the United States Air Force for orbital spaceflight missions intended to demonstrate reusable space technologies. It is a reusable robotic spaceplane that is a 120% scaled derivative of the X-40A.

The X-37 began as a NASA project in 1999, then was transferred to the U.S. Department of Defense in 2004. It had its first flight as a drop test on April 7, 2006, at Edwards Air Force Base. The spaceplane's first orbital mission, USA-212 was launched on April 22, 2010 using an Atlas V rocket. Its return to Earth on December 3, 2010 was the first test of the vehicle's heat shield and hypersonic aerodynamic handling. A second X-37B was launched on March 5, 2011 with the mission designation USA-226.

In 1999, NASA selected Boeing Integrated Defense Systems to design and develop the vehicle, built by the California branch of Boeing's Phantom Works. Over a four-year period NASA contributed 109 million, the US Air Force 16 million, and Boeing 67 million to the project. In late 2002 a new 301 million contract was awarded to Boeing in the framework of NASA's Space Launch Initiative.

The X-37 was transferred from NASA to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) on September 13, 2004. The program has become a classified project, although it is not known whether DARPA will maintain this status for the project.

NASA's spaceflight program may be centered around the Crew Exploration Vehicle, while DARPA will promote the X-37 as part of the independent space policy that the US Department of Defense has pursued since the Challenger disaster.

The X-40A is essentially a winged lifting body with a V-tail. It is equipped with a tricycle landing gear and a GPS/INS precision navigation system. The full-scale SMV, designated X-40B, would have added a liquid-propellant rocket propulsion system, a reusable thermal protection system, a dorsal payload bay and other systems necessary for operations in space.

Not long after the first, and at that time only, flight of the X-40A, the USAF decided to give the X-40A to NASA for use as a scaled low-speed test bed for the X-37 program. Nothing has come forward on the planned X-40B SMV, and it is assumed that this part of the program has been terminated and absorbed by the X-37A.

The "Zetas" are a supposed alien race whose messages are allegedly channeled by one Nancy Lieder of Wisconsin, seen here. (Usually she just goes by her first name). She began posting on the internet her messages from the Zetas in 1995, and soon acquired a considerable following among New Age, UFO, and Conspiracy believers. When the giant comet Hale-Bopp was discovered in 1995, Nancy proclaimed that it didn't exist - it was a disinformation campaign to distract people from the coming doom of Planet X.

According to Nancy's website, "The inbound Planet X was sighted at the coordinates given by the Zetas in early 2001, imaged in infrared twice in January, 2002, tracked by CCD images in late 2002 to early 2003, and thereafter photographed by amateur astronomers around the world. That a middle aged woman with a high school degree, who does not even know which end of a telescope to "look" into, could pinpoint the RA and Dec of the brown dwarf, Planet X, is astonishing, and speaks to the validity of ZetaTalk." This is, of course, pure nonsense. A few photographs were produced purporting to show Planet X, but there was so little information provided that it was impossible to say what they really were. Nancy boasted of a 68 percent success rate for seeing Planet X during April of 2003, but only for "those educated, who had done their homework and followed the imaging session, noted our words as to what to look for, and oriented themselves in the sky." Apparently other people didn't see anything. She further informs us that MJ12, the supposedly ultra-secret crashed UFO panel, has "committed suicide to prevent itself from being misused." Ten years after its alleged "discovery," no reputable astronomer, amateur or professional, has ever confirmed any sighting of the supposed "Planet X."

"According to the Zetas, Planet X was approaching earth in early 2003, to cause a "pole shift" and massive destruction on or about May 15. "The 12th Planet will be visible to the common man some 7 weeks prior to the shift, without the use of telescopes," says Nancy, meaning that it should have become visible around the end of March. "Planet X will have a distinct red appearance, with a roiling tail full of moons, that are more concerned with the dance between them than any affect the solar wind might have upon them. Thus, they swirl, and look like a dragon approaching, not" a straight line tail at all. Nevertheless, we anticipate NASA will explain the Planet X complex as any number of things, or rather their lackeys, who will natter the word on every Internet or media source that allows their nattering - asteroid bunch, passing comet, unusual comet, Mars closest pass in many eons, or whatever." In other words, by May of 2003 "Planet X" would be huge and impossible to miss, but the government will attempt to convince you that you are actually seeing something else. Nancy noted on her website that in December of 2002, the popular late-night radio host Art Bell interviewed Sylvia Browne, "the well-known psychic and author. And she disclosed she is no longer able to see the future beyond the summer of 2003." Bell also interviewed Ed Dames, who claims to have been a "remote viewer" employed by the CIA. Dames said that "he and his remote viewing team are no longer able to remote view the future beyond next summer." From this, Nancy deduces that there will "be" no future beyond the summer of 2003. The close approach of the mythical Planet X was supposed to cause a Pole Shift on the Earth, with massive accompanying destruction.Of course, it never happened.

During June of 2003, Nancy posted numerous accounts of supposedly bizarre phenomena such as unexplained booms, sunspots, a ring around the Moon, and the Sun "rising and setting in the wrong place." These were labeled as "signs of the times," and were attributed to the proximity of the dangerous Planet X. Nancy insisted that Earth's rotational stopping and flipping was indeed still going to occur, but she refused to specify the hour or date. Her followers were carefully noting the times of sunrise and sunset, and the position of the Sun going down, to see if Earth's expected careening might have already begun. But when these disasters failed to occur, most of her followers turned their attention elsewhere, to different weirdness.

H"ar finner vi n"astan alla de fenomen och f"orest"allningar som auto dyker upp i 1950-talets kontaktfall. Beskrivningar av m"angder av paranormala fenomen, kontakt och kommunikation med "jordbaserade fr"amlingar" som r"or sig ok"anda ibland oss i samh"allet. Enda skillnaden "ar att det i stort den aldrig n"amns nagot om farkoster - tefat.

Oavsett vad man tycker om teosofin som v"arlds- och livsaskadning sa finns i den teosofiska litteraturen mycket att h"amta med klara paralleller break up dagens ufofenomen.
