But it seemed like I was in a dream state and the event was much longer than the short time span of the shots taken"

It was 38 years ago this month, but I remember it like it was yesterday. My friend and I were driving to her house when I casually looked out the window up at the sky and I saw some kind of rapidly dropping light, which fell and disappeared, similar to a shooting star. I dismissed it as that, until I looked out again a few minutes later and saw the same light moving in odd directions, very fast. It would appear, zip vertically for a second then disappear again, only to reappear elsewhere in the sky, dart up diagonally, then disappear again. This happened probably about 4 times, then stopped, I didn't see it after that. That is until we got to my friend's house and stepped out of the car. Above her house (which was a large, five bedroom, two level ranch home), no more than 500 feet from the ground, was an enormous, disc shaped craft, dull silver-gray metallic, still and silent, with a smaller disc shaped area underneath, lighted all around with alternating yellowish lights and portholes. We stood there speechless looking at this thing. What still boggles my mind to this day is how an object that large could be completely silent, even when it starting moving. My friend's Dad came to the front door - as I guess he saw us just standing there looking up - and we screamed to him to come outside and look at this object above his house. He laughed at us and shut the door. The craft then proceeded to move horizontally very slowly, and it had a red transparent beam moving in sync with it, scanning the creek behind my friend's house. They were studying/scanning the creek, we could see the end of the beam in the water. After it passed the creek, it continued moving and proceeded to move at the same slow rate of speed down her street, toward a private farm which had a open pasture. We got back in the car and followed until we reached the farm and could go no further, but we could still see it. It stopped over the pasture, revved up it's "engine" which sounded like three airplanes starting at the same time, and took off diagonally so fast, it was gone from sight in approximately 5 seconds. And that was it, we never saw it again. I went home, got out my binoculars, and sat outside until about 1:00am looking for it, but I never saw it again, and neither did my friend. I will never forget that as long as I live.

This 1965 letter received in response to my inquiry about access to official UFO information via the Syracuse, NY Police Dept. seems innocent enough, and it is. But, for me, pulling Chief Smith's reply out more than four decades later reminds me how different things were in the later seventies when Central New York experienced a flurry of impressive UFO reports. Sometime way in the future, I hope to explore that period of time, but for now I just want to contrast Chief Smith's letter with the official bedlam that would grip Central NY years later, when police officer and sheriff's deputy tempers flared, altering careers and, indeed, causing law enforcement agencies to withhold UFO reports from the public. I doubt that Chief Smith would have approved, but he was long gone by the time the 1970s UFO reports exploded on the scene. Curiously, the bulk of the discussion within the documents deal with the possibility that the UFOs seen by witnesses back in January were rockets or missiles. As I noted in earlier blog posts here in January and February, that's just one possibility. I fact, my own investigation showed there was a stronger likelihood that the UFOs were a bit more prosaic: high-flying aircraft. This was supported by the fact there was another, almost identical but less-publicized sighting about the same time over New Brunswick, which was tentatively identified as an aircraft.

Without having seen the documents, it's difficult to know why they might have been sanitized. One of my original suggestions is that the UFOs were actually military aircraft on a classified mission. The RCMP, DND and NORAD would therefore state that they had no knowledge of missiles or rockets being in the vicinity. But then, no one asked about aircraft.
As it stands, then, a well-witnessed and photographed UFO sighting is labeled "unexplained" by government officials, and the identity of the objects observed is still a mystery. Further, official documents support the fact that the UFO cannot be explained.
Don't debunkers say there are no good-quality UFO cases that are unexplained?

I was at home.About 8:20pm my dog needed to go outside.I took the dog out to my backyard.I was thinking to myself what a beautiful clear night it was as I looked up at the sky.I was noticed how many stars were out.As I was looking at the night sky,I see this upside down v shaped object(chevron?) moving at a slow pace toward town.It had white lights on the underside of it.At first I thought it was a plane.But then I thought what a weird shaped plane and it didn't make a sound! It was dark outside,but the object was darker than the night sky.If that makes any sense! I watched it move away toward town.probably only 20 or so seconds.I was in total disbelief.What did I see? My heart was pounding so hard.I was shaking.I ran inside with my dog.I told my family what I just witnessed.Now everyone went outside on the front steps of the house to try and see the object.Or where could this object have gone? I told them that it went toward town.Which for us is only a few streets away.But it was already gone.I went back outside to the backyard where I first witnessed this object.Hoping that it would come back so I could see it again.But nothing happened.I didn't see anything.All I know is I wont be able to sleep tonight.It's all I can think about right now.Im still shaken by it,but excited at the same time! UFO SIGHTING IN PAWTUCKET, RHODE ISLAND ON JULY 27TH 2013 - THIS WAS AN IDENTIFIABLE FLYING SAUCER. THE CRAFT WAS HOVERING AT TREE LINE LEVEL, WAS APPROX. 20' ROUND/OVAL WITH RED/ORANGE PULSATING LIGHTS AROUND THE CIRCUMFERENCE.
1: On July 27, 2013, Saturday evening at approximately 9:10 pm, my adult daughter and I were walking our dogs on Mineral Spring Ave going west and turning at Power Road going North. We walked two blocks to the corner of Power Road and Atwood Street in Pawtucket, RI 02860 2: My daughter looked to the East down Atwood Street and noticed an object in the sky and yelled, Hey, what's that in the sky! I walked a couple of feet, past a tree that was blocking my view and I witnessed a lighted object towards the end of Atwood Street, a street that is approximately only 1/10th of a mile long and in a residential neighborhood. 3: From the moment I witnessed the object, it was without a doubt that I was looking at a flying saucer. 4: The object was low to the ground and very viable with red/orange pulsating lights around the circumference of the craft. Because of the lights it was unclear if there was any circular motion or if it was just hovering at a height above the electrical lines and about tree height. It would have taken an approximate 20' above ground round pool to cover the circumference of the craft. It was not behind any object or even behind a cloud and it was a clear night. 5: My feelings was that of extreme excitement which took over my emotions, but at the same time I was in fear of the unknown. I was in awe, overwhelmed and confused, but knowing I did not have a camera or cell phone I knew I would not be able to document anything. If I would have had clear thinking I would have knocked on someone's door, but this experience was overwhelming and I just could not focus. I asked my daughter to run home with my sister's dog that she was walking and get my sister, a camera and a phone. I stayed on Power Road when I spotted a teenaged boy walking towards me. I ran to him and asked him to walk down the street with me. I told he he was about to see a Flying Saucer, something not too many people would ever witness in a lifetime. I don't know why, but I walked half way down the street and decided to turn around run home to meet up with my sister, daughter and to get my car. My dog who is friendly and obedient decided that he did not want to walk or follow me. He was wearing a pinch collar and it was even hard for me to force him to leave and I had to literally drag him to get him to walk with me. I had never seen him so defiant and it wasn't until we were half way home before he walked as he normally would. When I reached my house, my newly acquired tenant was on the porch looking south, in the opposite direction of where I witnessed the saucer.
