The truth is out there.
Seventy years ago today, the Battle of Los Angeles occurred, a vicious fight that resulted in three civilian deaths. Haven't heard of it? We're not surprised. The U.S. government said what happened was nighttime antiaircraft crews protecting Los Angeles got nervous -- it was just two months after Pearl Harbor -- and opened fire on a weather balloon. The crews also set off flares, and all the confusion just built on itself. So we're told. Others say the night featured an attempted UFO landing, in which the valiant gun crews fought aliens trying to land. It's pretty obvious the latter is true.Obviously the aliens not only "attempted" to land, they succeeded. Just look at what's happened in Hollywood since then. The logic becomes inescapable. 5. Between 1911 and 1941, UFOs and flying saucers were occasionally a subject for films. Since then -- especially since the 1950s, after a necessary period of time to learn the equipment and infiltrate studio management -- movies about UFOs exploded. Coincidence? who's being naive, Kay?

In the 1930s, UFOs were laughably portrayed on screen, obvious frauds. While it understandably took a decade or two to import the necessary technology from the home planet to Earth, all of a sudden you got "Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Independence Day" and the "Transformers" series. The aliens' unstinting desire for complete accuracy in movies is inspiring 3. VERY, VERY STRANGE PEOPLE LIKE TOM CRUISE AND ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER HAVE REACHED THE PINNACLE OF HOLLYWOOD SUCCESS
One fiercely believes in aliens and Xenu "as if he knows it was true " and the other became an influential box-office legend despite documentaries that proved a) he could barely speak English, and b) he was a cyborg sent from the future to kill a specific human. Luckily for the U.S. -- and the world -- the aliens overreached when they had him elected California governor as a first step towards getting his finger on the nuclear button (Yes, their plans included overturning the "natural born citizen" section of the Constitution.) 2. THE ATTACKS SUDDENLY STOPPED

Surely the balloon (or the pieces ther) would have floated in the Pacific for some time, and the Pacific is known by oceanologists to be, as they say, "not very big." The sightings of what were called "ghost rockets" in Europe, mostly in Sweden, in the aftermath World War II, is well-known to students of UFOlogy, if not to the general public. They were "ghost rockets" in the sense that people reported seeing objects they described as "rockets" or "missiles," yet no evidence of the actual existence of such objects has ever turned up. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost rockets ) Some of the objects were reported to crash into lakes (why was it never a forest?), but despite numerous searches no rocket parts were ever recovered from any lake, or anywhere else.
While I was reflecting on the current epidemic of sightings of "mystery missiles", not only in California but elsewhere, it occurred to me that people were actually reporting "ghost rockets" today. After all, a "mystery missile" is no different from a "ghost rocket." Indeed, it seems likely that some future book about UFOs will contain a sentence along the lines of, "Sightings of 'ghost rockets' began occurring in the U.S. and Canada around 2010." Thus far, all of these North American Ghost Rockets appear to be attributable to high-altitude contrails from jet aircraft.
Were there any high-altitude aircraft capable of creating contrails flying around Scandinavia in 1946? Large planes flying at high altitudes, such as the B-17 or B-29, will typically produce contrails when meteorological conditions are favorable. There is no need for them to be jets. A dispatch from the U.S. Naval Attache in Stockholm, dated Aug. 16, 1946 and formerly classified "Top Secret," talks of "civilian observers reporting jet fighters, contrails and meteors as rockets" ( http://www.project1947.com/gr/grchron2.htm ) The U.S. used the high-altitude B-29 bomber for reconnaissance in the arctic following World War II, as well as in Europe.
Some of the "ghost rockets" were surely meteors, especially those seen at night, described as fast-moving and only seen for a few seconds. Still others were probably astronomical objects, described as bright lights hovering in the night sky. People tend to scrutinize the heavens more than usual when they have heard that unusual objects are zipping about. But other "ghost rockets" were described as moving much more slowly, and flying horizontally. These sound much more like contrails. The single "classic" photo of a Swedish "Ghost Rocket," seen in the Wikipedia article, is usually attributed to a meteor, but looks very much like a high-altitude contrail. Notice the cirrus clouds above it. "Contrails are a form of cirrus cloud," ContrailsScience.com reminds us. Indeed, the meteorological conditions that produce contrails are the same as those producing cirrus clouds. If cirrus clouds cannot be produced, then neither can contrails.

ContrailScience.com has several very interesting incidents of contrail hysteria in the U.S., going back as far as 1950. ( http://contrailscience.com/contrail-confusion-is-nothing-new/ ). That's getting awfully close to 1946.
It has often been suggested that the Swedish "ghost rockets" of 1946, reports of which were carried worldwide, played a role in creating the "flying saucer" excitement that broke out over Kenneth Arnold's sighting the following year. And thus, in creating the entire UFO scenario. So, what I'm suggesting is that the "ghost rockets" excitement of the present year seems to be a replay of the earlier Swedish excitement. We know from present experience that jet contrails can fool even some very sophisticated people into believing that they are seeing rockets or missiles, and this in a time when contrails are already a very familiar sight.
Thus it seems very likely that the main stimulus behind the "ghost rockets" of 1946 was the presence of contrails in the sky, in a time when that phenomenon was new and not at all familiar. World War II had ended just the previous year, and it was known that the U.S. and the USSR were both frantically pursuing missile development, using captured German rocket scientists. Everybody knew that the Cold War could turn into a "hot war" at any moment, and on several occasions it nearly did. Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia were literally in the middle of it, between the allies US/UK/France, and their adversary, the Soviet Union. It is no wonder that, in such an atmosphere, people in Sweden, seeing the unfamiliar new phenomenon of high-altitude contrails, sometimes perceived them as menacing rockets launched by one great power or another.
Those in the U.S. and Canada today, however, who make up conspiracy stories in the same vein, even in situations where "ghost rockets" would have to have been fired on land, do not have the extenuating circumstances that the Swedes had sixty-four years earlier.

A test version of NASA's Orion spacecraft soon will make a cross-country journey, giving residents in three states the chance to see a full scale test version of the vehicle that will take humans into deep space.
The crew module will make stops during a trip from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The planned landing at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala will be from Feb 2-5. Engineers, program officials, astronauts and NASA spokespeople will be available to speak with the media and the public.
The full-scale test vehicle was used by ground crews in advance of the launch abort system flight test that took place in New Mexico in 2010. Orion will serve as the vehicle that takes astronauts beyond low-Earth orbit, and the first orbital flight test is scheduled for 2014.

Jerry McAlister still believes the object that hovered over his house on Broadway Lake more than 20 years ago was a UFO.
"I can still remember everything that happened. That thing was huge," Mr. McAlister said. "It was solid steel. You could even see the rivets in it. We thought, 'It ain't going to land here is it?' But it just hovered and slid off."
Sitting in the living room of his Boston Street home in Anderson recently, Mr. McAlister, who is now 67, recounted his close encounter with an unexplained, large flying object on Sept. 11, 1980. He woke to the sound of a strange noise, like the whirring of a helicopter, at 4:20 a.m. Then he lived in a ranch-style house on Parnell Road, near Broadway Lake.
When he went to the window, he saw a "large flying saucer hovering over the lawn," he said.
Even now, Mr. McAlister can remember watching some of the young pine trees in his yard wilting under the flying object as it hovered, he said. When he saw it, he called the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, and deputies responded.
No one knew then what the object was.
But it didn't take long for news of the UFO sighting to spread through the community and across the nation. Today, Mr. McAlister has a scrapbook of letters, drawings and articles from local and national publications that told his story.
Several of those stories appeared in the Anderson Independent-Mail. Headlines after the sighting was reported read: "Several Anderson residents convinced strange object was UFO" and "Town buzzes with excitement after possible UFO sighting."
In one photo, a local restaurant owner was pictured next to a sign that read "Welcome little green men."
A small clip of the news item even made it into a newspaper in Paraguay in South America. That clip was mailed to Mr. McAlister. He still has it, along with the note that came with it and the stamp that was on it, tucked away in that scrapbook.
Stories also appeared in two national tabloids in 1980, the Globe in November and the National Enquirer in December.
Mr. McAlister also appeared on the television show "That's Incredible!" that aired on the ABC at the time.
"It was a hot thing for a month or two," he said. "Right after it happened, people were calling from all over the place wanting to set up (recreational vehicles) in our yard. They thought it might be coming back."
When asked if anyone ever doubted him about the story, Mr. McAlister said, "No. Nobody said I was crazy, because a lot of people saw it. It was something."
In fact, six days after Mr. McAlister's sighting, a story appeared in The Easley Progress newspaper about a man spotting a UFO there. And on Sept. 16, the Independent-Mail reported that two more people saw "whirling lights" in the sky above Broadway Lake.
Not long after the sighting, Mr. McAlister and his then-wife Faye moved. For a while Mr. McAlister worked for the Iva Rescue Squad. For the last seven years, he has lived alone in a small single-wide trailer on Boston Street. That scrapbook has been stored away in his bedroom.
"Since I've been here, people have asked me about it," Mr. McAlister said. "But I guess over the last four or five years, I haven't said much about it. It was something back then. I ain't never forgot it."

We are tired of being asked the question: 'Do you believe in UFOs?'
Do we believe in UFOs? No, we don't. Because UFOs aren't a faith, they're a reality. We don't require fervent belief and hope that UFOs exist -- they do. There are photographs, there is film footage, there are physical traces. Unlike the saints of old, UFOs don't need to manifest their likenesses in a piece of toast because they reveal their physical selves to people all the time, every single day.
UFOs are a reality, far more than God who, after all, has yet to appear at or hovering above a shopping mall and pose for a photograph. And if God did pose for a photograph, would the photographer have to run the gamut of disbelief, ridicule, shame and public humiliation that a person who snaps a photograph of a UFO must endure? Hardly, when the face of Jesus in an eggplant receives credible and global media coverage and draws pilgrims from far and wide.
So why must Ufology endure this constant criticism? What status quo does it threaten? Is Science in fact the religion that the New Church of Ufology threatens to topple?
Scientists react to UFOs with the same kind of witch-burning zeal as the Popes of old - and it isn't hard to imagine that the Whitecoats would love to round us up and burn us at the stake for our blaspheming and false idols. All hail the doctrine of evolution. All hail MAN, the greatest pinnacle of biology that any creature on any planet could hope to aspire to!
Or should it be all hail the NEW gods, the DNA-manipulating Greys, the stately perfection of Orthon.
How difficult then is our struggle, fighting against all the old gods of science. Darwin, the Zeus of Evolution, and Sagan, the Ares of our time, zealously guarding the sterile vacuum of space from our irrational imaginations. They rule from on-high, casting their thunderbolts of fear and doubt and confusion upon an unsuspecting world.
How can the tribe fight the gods? More importantly, how can Ufology fight these time-honoured tactics, and win?

LONDON - The men were air traffic controllers. Experienced, calm professionals. Nobody was drinking. But they were so worried about losing their jobs that they demanded their names be kept off the official report.
No one, they knew, would believe their claim an unidentified flying object landed at the airport they were overseeing in the east of England, touched down briefly, then took off again at tremendous speed. Yet that's what they reported happened at 4 p.m. on April 19, 1984.
The incident is one of hundreds of reported sightings contained in more than 1,000 pages of formerly secret UFO documents being released Wednesday by Britain's National Archives. It is one of the few that was never explained.
The air traffic controllers Report of Unusual Aerial Phenomenon' was filed from an unspecified small airport near the eastern coast of England.
The men, each with more than eight years on the job, described how they were helping guide a small plane to a landing on runway 22 when they were distracted by a brightly lit object approaching a different runway without clearance.
'Everyone became aware that the object was unidentified,' their report said. 'SATCO (code name for a controller with 14 years experience) reports that the object came in 'at speed,' made a touch and go on runway 27, then departed at 'terrific speed' in a 'near vertical' climb.'
The incident is one of the more credible in the newly public files because it was reported by air traffic controllers, said David Clarke, a UFO expert who worked with the National Archives on the document release.
'They were absolutely astonished,' he said. 'It was a bright, circular object, flashing different colors, and after it touched down it disappeared at fantastic speed. The report comes from very qualified people, and it's one of the few that remained unexplained.'
But while there are some unexplained cases in the papers, there is no reported instance in which the Ministry of Defense found any evidence of alien activity or alien spacecraft, said Clarke, who nonetheless expects conspiracy theories about a UFO cover-up by the British defense establishment to persist.
'The Ministry of Defense doesn't have any evidence that our defenses were breached by alien craft,' Clarke said. 'They never found one, no bits of one. That's all we can say.'
Clarke said the released documents, dealing with the late 1970s and early 1980s, are the first batch in a series that will be made public in the next few years.
The National Archives is releasing the files because of numerous freedom of information requests seeking information about the government's UFO reports. Officials said that names of many individuals had been blacked out to protect their privacy and that the entire files had been reviewed to make sure their release did not compromise national security.
Ministry of Defense officials indicate in the files that UFO reports were only investigated to make sure no enemy aircraft had illegally entered British airspace. This was crucial during the Cold War when Russian planes posed a threat.
Officials said they did not try to solve UFO riddles once an enemy attack had been ruled out.
The vast majority of UFO reports come from members of the public who see strange things in the sky and jump to the conclusion that a UFO is involved even though there are logical explanations for what they observe, experts said.
'The most common things are aircraft lights, bright stars and planets, satellites, meteors, airships and things like that,' said Nick Pope, another UFO expert who helped the Ministry of Defense investigate the phenomenon.v That was the case when a number of people leaving a Tunbridge Wells pub one night reported seeing a strange craft 'with red and green' lights, according to the released documents.
Asked by police where the object seemed to be traveling, the pub crawlers said it appeared to be heading for London's Gatwick Airport. It didn't take a scientist to figure out it was a commercial plane making a routine approach.v

"On June 6, 1884, as a band of cowboys rounded up cattle in remote Dundy County, Nebraska, a blazing object streaked out of the sky and crashed some distance from them, leaving (ACCORDING TO A CONTEMPORARY NEWSPAPER ACCOUNT) "FRAGMENTS OF COG-WHEELS AND OTHER PIECES OF MACHINERY... GLOWING WITH HEAT SO INTENSE AS TO SCORCH THE GRASS FOR A LONG DISTANCE AROUND EACH FRAGMENT." The light was so intense that it blinded one of the witnesses.
This incredible event was recorded two days later in Lincoln's Daily State Journal, which printed a dispatch from Benkelman, Nebraska, by an anonymous correspondent. The correspondent wrote that prominent local citizens had gone to the site, where the metal now had cooled. He reported, "THE AEROLITE, OR WHATEVER IT IS, SEEMS TO BE ABOUT 50 OR 60 FEET LONG, CYLINDRICAL, AND ABOUT 10 OR 12 FEET IN DIAMETER." A State Journal editor remarked that this must have been an "air vessel belonging originally to some other planet."
But on June 10 an anticlimactic dispatch came from Benkelman. In a heavy rainstorm the remains had "MELTED, DISSOLVED BY THE WATER LIKE A SPOONFUL OF SALT." The obvious message: Take the story with a grain of sodium chloride. The State Journal, red-faced, dropped it then and there.
In the 1960s a copy of the first newspaper article resurfaced, and reporters, historians, and ufologists rushed to Dundy County. Lifelong residents of the area assured them no such thing had ever happened. Later, even after the telltale follow-up dispatch was uncovered, one humorless author theorized that the "storm was artificially created so that a UFO concealed within the clouds could retrieve the wreckage of the crashed UFO

The so-called "mystery missile" photographed off Los Angeles on Monday (see previous Blog entry) was quickly identified as an aircraft contrail by responsible investigators, but apparently it has morphed into a "mystery" that's too good to give up. No matter that ContrailScience.com has explained the phenomenon in great detail, no matter that earlier instances of "contrails scares" have been identified and explained not only in California, but elsewhere in the world, going back as far as 1950, no matter that the exact flight responsible for the contrails has apparently been identified - it was UPS flight 902 from Hawaii to the Ontario Airport in California (see http://contrailscience.com/los-angeles-missile-contrail-explained-in-pictures/ - an earlier hypotheses that it was U.S. Airways Flight 808 from Honolulu to Phoenix doesn't match the track as well as the UPS flight), no matter that a nearly-identical contrail from that same daily flight was recorded exactly 24 hours later on a webcam in Newport Beach - irresponsible and irrational conspiracy theorists simply will not let the "mystery" die. This story has apparently reached critical mass, so like Roswell, the JFK assassination, etc., "IT NO LONGER MATTERS WHAT THE FACTS ARE. "The facts are out in plain view for all to see. But conspiracy theorists reject facts that are public and demonstrable, and substitute their own.
For example, an article in today's conspiracy-oriented publication "The Los Angeles Times" proclaims "Puzzling lack of answers to 'Mystery Missile' " ( http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-1110-mystery-missile-20101110,0,1077349.story?page=1 ). In a piece worthy of Erich von Daniken, the Times reports "Military and aviation authorities deny any knowledge of a scheduled launch off the coast of L.A. The Pentagon says only that it is looking into a report of an 'unexplained contrail' left by an aircraft." Well, if the Pentagon says only that it might be a jet contrail, then they're obviously covering something up. "Some aerospace experts who reviewed the footage said the size of the plume hinted that it was a government operation." (More uninformed "experts" blubbering nonsense.) "It can't belong to anyone but the military," said Marco Caceres, an analyst with Teal Group Corp., a Fairfax, Va.-based aerospace research firm. The appearance of such a massive rocket contrail near military bases that are known for regularly testing missiles is unlikely to be a coincidence, Caceres said."
Meanwhile, the comments on various internet Blogs, forums, etc. weighs in heavily in favor of the "they won't tell us the truth" persuasion. The favorite explanations are an "accidental launch" from some U.S. ship, or else a Chinese or North Korean submarine. And in the classic manner of UFO-contagion, Contrail Hysteria is now spreading to New York City. A CBS helicopter there filmed a "bizarre, glowing red-hot streak in the sky - right at sunset Wednesday - moving briskly behind the Manhattan skyline." ( http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2010/11/10/did-you-see-the-fire-in-the-nyc-sky/ ). And that one isn't even very impressive, as it's horizontal not vertical, but hey, it's glowing a fiery red color at sunset -ooooh! Soon, "Mystery Missiles" will be sighted everywhere, and conspiracy tales about them will abound.

UFO SIGHTING IN PRESCOTT, ARIZONA ON JUNE 10TH 2013 - TWO SILENT, BRIGHT WHITE LIGHTS THAT HOVERED AND THEN MOVED AWAY RAPIDLY IN IRREGULAR FLIGHT PATH
I am currently on a camping trip south of Prescott AZ. Last night I went to bed soon after midnight. Because there isn't any chance of rain I set up my tent without the rainfly so I could see the stars. I'm unsure of the time but i estimate sometime between 2:30 and 4 a.m. I woke up having to use the bathroom. Lying on my back I was looking up at the stars when I noticed a brighter than usual star directly above me. I have no idea how high it was because it only appeared to be a star. It was a very bright white, almost with a blue tint to it. I don't know the location of constellations other than a fewmajor ones and the north star so it didn't occur to me that it could be anything other than a star. Then it started moving maybe two or three minutes after I initially noticed it. It was faster than any plane I have ever seen up here, and that comparison includes 2 fighter jets I saw last year, (f-16's I think). I would say it was going a little faster than the jets did. It moved in a nne direction, in a straight line initially, then after it had crossed about 1/3 of the horizon it began to zig left and right in about 1 second durations, doing the same angle of change each time and continuing nne overall. Each turn might have been 5 degrees or so. It only took about 20 seconds for it to go beyond the horizon I could see. I was more alert and scanned the sky for a little while and saw another light maybe 5 minutes later I noticed another stationary light is similar brightness wnw of me. I watched it for a few minutes and then it started moving at about the same speed to the right across the horizon from my perspective. I was only able to see it for a few seconds before its path took it behind a mountain that blocked any more view of it. There was no moon out, no clouds, no wind and no other lights like planes at that time. I didn't hear any sound at all I would associate with aircraft, just very silent. I intend to be up here camping for a few more days so I would be happy to show an investigator where I am or provide gps coordinates.

Date: Christmas Eve in either 1981 - 1982Time: 4:00 a.m. Hi Brian, I will relate a sighting I had on Christmas eve in either 1981-82. My first wife and I were visiting friends in Echo Bay, Ontario near Sault Ste Marie for a few days. We were planning on returning to Sudbury the following morning, a 2.5 hour drive. I was reading a book all night sitting on the living room lazy-boy chair in the mid-recline position. Everyone in the household were sound asleep, except me. The time was 4:00 a.m. Suddenly, a powerful spotlight type beam of light shone from outside inward through the bay window curtains located on my right side, the beam hitting the opposing living room wall, tracking from right to left as though searching for something. Then, the chair I was sitting on began to levitate 3 or 4 inches and shaking, the hair on my neck and arms stood erect, but not out of fear. The air smelled like burnt electricity and there was no sound heard. The Christmas tree at the far left corner of the living room whose branches began to move up and down like the flapping wings of a bird, so to speak, seemed to react to some unknown force. Being somewhat spooked by the experience which lasted approximately 15 seconds, I decided to jump off the chair while still in its reclined and levitated position, and walked toward the entrance of the living room where the tree was also situated at the left side. Passing next to the tree, its trunk bent toward me with several branches extended like arms to grab me, so it seemed, as though alive, but I attribute that phenomenon to perhaps magnetism, because as I backed away a few feet, the tree reverted to its normal position, and the closer I returned, it bent toward me. Therefore, I quickly exited the living room and proceeded toward the back of the house into the only ground floor bedroom where my wife and friend were asleep in separate beds. Looking out the window, I observed a small silver/grey saucer shaped craft with a glass type dome on top with a vapour trail behind it, the craft floating approximately 3 feet above the snowy ground at a distance of 20 feet from the window, heading toward a distant ravine 1/4 mile away where I lost sight as it dipped to lower elevation. The craft was no larger than a Volkswagen vehicle, and completely silent. It must have been traveling approximately 30 mph. on it's way to the ravine. My emotions were mixed at that point, feeling in danger and yet amazed. I related my observation to our friends that same morning at breakfast table, and they were not sure what to make of my story. My wife and I hopped into the car after breakfast, but it would not start, even though the battery was strong and after some distributor adjustments, it started roughly and then normalized somewhat. Halfway en-route to Sudbury, the car engine seized, being red hot in color like a tomato, although all the fluids were at their normal levels. We abandoned the vehicle at the nearest gas station, and waited for the next Greyhound bus a few hours later. I ended up selling the vehicle as junk to that same gas station owner, even though the vehicle was in decent shape otherwise. I kind of attribute that mishap with the UFO passing so close to my vehicle the night before, not knowing what effects it may have done to it. Another sighting I had in the mid 1970's north of Sudbury was of a large fiery yellow/orange globe the size of the sun travelling below the cloud ceiling from east to west at speeds in excess of 300 mph. It was tracked by NORAD in Falconbridge and at other stations further west until intercepted by Michigan air force jets near Manitoba, when its trajectory changed from horizontal to vertical flight in a 90 degree turn toward outer space as it evaded the fighter planes' approach, shooting straight out of radar sight at speeds in excess of 15000 mph. Thousands of Sudburians had seen that same globe in broad daylight as reported by the Sudbury Star newspaper. SpaceX has experienced delays from the beginning of this year on the need to verify flight software can safely accomplish the Dragon spacecraft's final approach to the space station, a sensitive phase of the mission in which the capsule must be capable of recognizing on-board problems and executing an abort out of the vicinity of the crewed outpost.

BUT NO, I'M NOT SLEEPING WELL," Musk said with a laugh when asked if he was nervous this time around but refused to lay precise odds on Dragon's success, saying it was "PROBABLY MORE THAN 50 PERCENT" -- and pledging to try again should the launch fail. "It's exciting and... it's an extremely difficult task, and we want it to succeed at the first try," he said.
"NASA DOES FEEL PRETTY GOOD ABOUT IT AND WE FEEL PRETTY GOOD ABOUT IT," he said, though cautioning: "YOU CAN'T SIMULATE THE ISS ON THE GROUND."

The Falcon 9 rocket itself has launched twice, ever. There is data floating around in the space community for decades now that the chances of failure for a new rocket is about one in three, notes space journalist JOHN KELLY AT "FLORIDA TODAY". Failure will result is probable backlash among traditionalists on Capitol Hill who do not readily embrace the private sector effort in space.
Kelly advises readers, "If SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft, on just its second orbital flight and its first trying to chase and meet up with the space station, docks at the orbiting outpost, the achievement could be the catalyst for a technical and political game-changer."

UFO SIGHTING IN HIGH POINT, NORTH CAROLINA ON AUGUST 17TH 2013 - LIGHT BLUE BALL OF LIGHT THAT FLASHED LIKE A STROBE
Last night we drove home from Western NC. It rained the entire trip. I say this to point out that we drove in the rain for two and a half hours and never saw one flash of lightning nor did we hear a single thunderclap. As we were driving on Skeet Club road we saw a round or ball shaped object flash very brightly over the roadway three times. It was a very soft light blue color and it was right over the roadway about tree top level or, a little less. It appeared to be about fifteen feet across with fuzzy edges, not clearly defined. It flashed very brightly, like the flash from a camera. It flashed two times rapidly, then a second or two went by and it flashed again. The first two times it flashed it was right in front of the car and the last time it flashed it was right over the car. When it flashed the first two times I saw it's shape as being round. But, the edges were not clearly defined. It was just a light blue, very bright flashing object. I didn't see anything unusual before the first flash. What I saw was two very bright flashes and then a blue object that rapidly faded out. Then the third flash that was right over us so, we didn't see anything but the flash due to the roof of the car blocking our possible view of anything that might have been there. If I had time I would have tried to stop the car rather than drive under it but, it all happened very rapidly and I never had time to react. I suppose it could have been lightning and I started not to report it except that as far as I know there was no lightning associated with last night's rain. It was cool all day with a light to moderate rain all day. There is no missing time or any other details to report. Also, it was perfectly silent. We heard no sounds whatsoever.

On the night of August 13-14, 1956, radar operators at two military bases in the east of England repeatedly tracked single and multiple objects which displayed high speed, as well as rapid changes of speed and direction. Two jet interceptors were sent up, and were able to see and track them in a brief series of maneuvers. According to official U.S. Air Force reports, the sightings could not be explained by radar malfunction or by unusual weather.IIt began at 9:30 p.m. when Airman 2nd Class John Vaccare, of the U.S. Air Force at RAF Bentwaters, tracked one UFO on his Ground Controlled Approach radar (type AN/MPN-11A) as it flew 40-50 miles (65 to 80 km.) in 30 seconds, i.e. 4,800 to 6,000 mph (7,500 to 9,500 km./hr.).A few minutes later Vaccare reported to T/Sergeant L. Whenry that a group of 12 to 15 unidentified targets was tracked from 8 miles (13 km.) southwest of Bentwaters to 40 miles (65 km.) northeast, at which time they "appeared to converge into one very large object, according to the size of the blip on the radar scope, which seemed to be several times larger than a B-36 aircraft [the largest operational bomber in history, with a wingspan of 230 feet or 70 m.]." The single large blip stopped twice for several minutes while being tracked, before flying off the scope.At 10 p.m., a single unidentified target was tracked from Bentwaters as it covered 55 miles (90 km.) in just 16 seconds. This works out to over 12,000 mph (19,000 km./hr.).Then, at 10:55 p.m., the Bentwaters GCA radar picked up an unidentified target on the same east-to-west course as the previous one, at an apparent speed of "2,000 to 4,000 mph" (3,200 to 6,400 km./hr.). Someone in the Bentwaters control tower reported seeing "a bright light passing over the field from east to west at about 4,000 feet [1,200 m.]." At about the same time, the pilot of a C-47 twin-engine military transport plane over Bentwaters said, "a bright light streaked under my aircraft travelling east to west at terrific speed." All three reports coincided.Soon after, radars at Bentwaters and RAF Lakenheath reported a stationary object 20-25 miles (32-40 km.) southwest of the latter base. It suddenly began moving north at 400 to 600 mph (650 to 1,000 km./hr.), but "there was no build-up to this speed - it was constant from the second it started to move until it stopped." It made several abrupt changes of direction without appearing to slow for its turns. IIAround 11:30 p.m., the RAF launched a deHavilland Venom jet interceptor, from RAF Waterbeach. According to the U.S. Air Force UFO report:"Pilot advised he had a bright white light in sight and would investigate. At 13 miles [20 km.] west he reported loss of target and white light. Lakenheath (radar) vectored him to a target 10 miles [16 km.] east of Lakenheath and pilot advised (that) target was on his radar and was 'locking on.' Pilot then reported he had lost target on his radar."Lakenheath GCA reports that as the Venom passed the target on radar, the target began a tail chase of the friendly fighter. Radar requested pilot acknowledge this chase. Pilot acknowledged and stated he would try to circle and get behind the target. Pilot advised he was unable to 'shake' the target off his tail and requested assistance."One additional Venom was scrambled from RAF station. Original pilot stated: 'Clearest target I have ever seen on radar."The following conversation between the two Venom fighter pilots was heard by the Lakenheath watch supervisor:Pilot #2 - "Did you see anything?"Pilot #1 - "I saw something, but I'll be damned if I know what it was."Pilot #2 - "What happened?"Pilot #1 - "He - or it - got behind me and I did everything I could to get behind him and I couldn't. It's the damndest thing I've ever seen."The 1969 report by the Air Force-funded study at the University of Colorado under Dr. Edward U. Condon concluded:"In summary, this is the most puzzling and unusual case in the radar-visual files. The apparent rational, intelligent behavior of the UFO suggests a mechanical device of unknown origin as the most probable explanation of this sighting. MARCH 10, 2013 - UNITED KINGDOM - A story featured at Keighley News about a flying strange ball of light resulted a lot of responses from online readers. The news has received a number of hits since it was published online and several readers have provided possible explanations about the apparent UFO sighting.
The news agency also received reports of other UFO PHENOMENA that were witnessed across the skies of Keighley area that took place few years ago.
A couple of weeks back, theatre nurse Jeanette Bray presented a picture showing a burning object moving across the sky. He managed to use her mobile phone for the image. On the very the same night, there were also reports of a meteor that broke up in flames over Chelyabinsk, Russian that caused injuries to around a thousand people.
Another report of UFO sighting came from Keighley worker Nicholas Andrews who claimed that he saw a rocket moving at a very fast speed from right to left five years ago. He added that it went up at around 20 or 30 degrees angle. He described that it looked like the object had come from between Haworth and Oxenhope. It joined the stars before it disappeared.
Another UFO sighting took place in 2010 New Year's Day, near Cononley. An off-duty policeman spotted a squashed ball-like object with very bright orange light moving above the sky of Keighley going to the village. It then turned left going to Cowling and the Lancashire border before moving up and disappeared. - KEIGHLEY NEWS.

UFO SIGHTING IN SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA ON AUGUST 31ST 2013 - AT NIGHT COVERED BY THE CLOUDS BUT CAN SEE THE LIGHT THROUGH IT AND THERE WERE 5 BALLS OF LIGHT MOVING IN A UI was out side on the balcony of my grandmas apartment listening to music on my phone and I was looking up at the sky and that's when I spotted the 5 balls of light close together just moving in a half u and would stop in about a minute. and so I thought it was lightning in the clouds but I stopped to think they were lightning when they stopped without moving for a minute and repeatedly moved in a half u. I called my friend and mom to tell her what was happening but I ran out of battery so I went inside to charge my phone and by the time I went back out the lights were spread out in a half circle and they went in different directions so fast I then was really sure that that was not an aircraft of any kind because I don't think we have anything that can move out that fast in a blink of an eye. I was kinda really freaked out by it when they suddenly took off that I scraped my elbow against the wall. And I don't have any recording of the phenomenon I saw because it was really dark outside and the 5 balls of light wasn't that bright either. The British Government and Crop Circles.By Nick PopeAugust 2009(A candid and revealing new statement by Nick Pope) I'm not sure how I feel about promoting a book, the (lengthy) subtitle of which is displayed on the front page and reads; It's 2009 and it is time to rewrite history. Nick Pope and the MoD attempt to change the official UK crop circle and UFO histories. But they are taken to task through the documented historical evidence from the National Archives!; - but what the hell, Colin Andrews and I are friends. The book stems from an 'official history' I wrote some years ago, detailing the military and the MoD's involvement in the crop circle phenomenon. I wrote the article at a time when I was still working for the MoD and it's no secret that MoD has downplayed its interest and involvement in the crop circle issue, as it has with the UFO phenomenon. This has been the policy for many years and clearly I had to play my part in this when I worked for the government. In this interesting and important new book, Colin Andrews takes me and the MoD to task for this. He has a point and has highlighted fascinating new evidence documenting greater official interest in crop circles than has previously been acknowledged. Some of the issues Colin highlights have arisen because the line between official and private interest (even within government, the military and the intelligence agencies) can be blurred. There are particular sensitivities and political difficulties when members of the Royal Family are involved. Nonetheless, I recommend this book, even though I come across as the bad guy.
